licted by the grandjury in Fort Worth lor
theft ol cattle." This is one of llioso un-
pardonable errors that.scarcely any subse-
quent retraction can make amends lor.
No one who knows the gentleman in ques
tion and against whom the item was
charged believed for one second otherwise
than Ihiil there was error somewhere lu the
report shout one who woiud be trusted
with bugs of uncounted gold or herds of
uncounted cuttle rio unsullied is his char-
acter tho very synonym of delicate honor
ami so cxlensivo his reputation as to such
character that tho opinion as just indicated
was unanimous despite the absurdities
