One of the most enthusiastic meet-
ings of citizens seen here In many a
day was held Monday after noon in
JtiHtlce Hrown'a office to (IIhcuhs the
importance of good roads and tho nd-
rlHnhlllty of Inaugurating a enni-
pplgi! along that IliitV.
Kvery wide awnko citizen knows
that the prosperity of town ami coun-
try Is enhanced by a system of Rood
public roads.
Tho advantage to the. farmers In
getting their produce to market Is
too plainly' seen to reiiilre argu-
ment. The county torn that Is f bo
reached only by way of bad roads
must pay the penally for Its lack of
enterprise for people will choose to
travel ' distant markets over good
roads rather than to pull through
bo;;s and washouts lo get to a town
nearer by.
Several months ago It became
known that a transcoutlnent; 1 High-
way la in contemplation from Georg-
ia and the t'arolnas through Texas
and New Mexico and probably to the
Pacific coast. There Is a disposition
rn the part of the promoters to sur-
vey from Texarkana to Fort Worth
thence thr. ugh this section or West
Texas anil to Hoswell. A tentative
out lino has been laid to Sweetwater
or Koscoe thence to Snyder. Such
a road would be worth much to Sny-
der and It can l o had by meeting the
reasonable requirements. It will he
easy and cheap for Scurry county to
do her part for the nii-lti thorotigh-
ii.re nnd then the matter of const ruc-
tlvn of laterals will almost take care
of Itself.
E. J. Anderson acted as chairman
for the meeting and made a strong
argument on the Importance of the
proportion lie said there will be a
meeting at Corpus Chrlstl on July
10 to insider the location of the
Highway"; nnd said that Snyder ought
to have I representative there lie
said otht i towns are doing it.
II !. Ti'vlo advocated making an
effort to B'l'uro the Highway lie
spoke of having traveled upon the
northern Illg'twny and said that in.
ttt it lit ion was itti Inspiration nnd gen-
eral benefit to 'he countries travers-
ed. Col. Wllmeth gave bis views on
road building and considers the High
way as practicable.
Joe Monro apoki sensibly on the
Importance of ro-opciatlou with out-
il tiers.
Knut. II. Curnutte madj a good
K relatlvo to worknig roads
th grading dragging and rhe like.
A. C Wllmeth made a notion that
a representative be .sent from here
to the Oorpua Chrlstl i oriference.
The motion carried and K. Ander-
son was unanimously chosen .as del-
egate. . . v
K J. Gray.ini. W. S. Adamatn and
II. O. Towle. were made a ronju-iittee
to raise the neeessary funds to Sear
ihe expe.rea of the representat've.
A motion prevailed to appoint a
special committee to atudy and m..p

Ilillle l-ee Home From Sanitarium.
W. 11. hoe and wife returned
Wednesday from the Post City Sani-
tarium where they have been for the
past month having an operation on
Mr. Doe's leg which has been both
ering him for the past 10 years.
Mr. and Mrs. I.ee are quite en-
lliiuhiulle III tlielr pralhe of the phy-
sicians. Dr. Ponton of Post and Dr.
Johnson of Snyder as Mr. I.ee was
positive that bis leg would have to
be amputated owing to the advanced
stage of decay ami the limb being
quite crooked but the doctors re-
moved all th- decayed bone and
flesh then by breaking other bones
made Ihe leg perfectly straight and
every Indication now Is that Ilillle
w ill have a good leg.
Mr. l.ee also states that while the
sanitarium Is small the equipment
is romplete and of the very latest
type.
The attention of the nurses all
that one could ask. A good sanita-
rium Is an Imtitntlon that this coun-
try has long needed and the Post
City Institution Is one that any
country should be proud of.
Mr. Iee also states that Mr. Uw
Davis who wag operated on Monday
for appendicitis was doing fine and
would be at home some time next
week.
