succeoful raid outhe gamblers aud i

taken in tow acknowledged tho corn
and were lined $10 each in the Recor-
der's Court this morning. Tho room I
in which they wore caught is over tho
Baltimore and Ohio telegraph office on

Robbing a Oroccry Store.
When Mr. Thomas proprietor of a
grocery store on East Elm street
went out to look at his possessions ho
found that his front door to his gro-
cery store had been broken open en-
tered and rubbed of about $150 worth
of goods. From the evidences around
it was evident that the thioves deliber-
ated backed their wagon up to the
sidewalk and forcod tho door open and
thou loaded up and drove oft The
police followed the track of tho wagon
quite a distance hut finally lost it and
gavo it up.

name when called this morning in the re-
corder's caurt and an alias capias was or-
dered and the ease continued ultll to-morrow
morning.

Atty. Clay Co. Tex. says: "Bavo used

the saloon to women. The man Ilyard
met Miller and Terrell there and got

left and shortly returned with Galla-

Randall's restaurant The quarrel was

retreat; Gallagher then produced a.

Miller; he cut a severe gash across his
bead and another on top giving him
a slash across the back of the head and
then to wind up the business cut one
of Millers cars nearly off. Galligher I
had a cook's apron on and it was as
bloody as iid- nped iu that fluid. While
Miller was considerable carved he is
not seriously hurt.
Gallagher served two years in the
penitentiary for killing a negro; and
subsequently served a year's term on
tho county (arm convicted on tho
charge of stealing forty dollars. Gal-
lagher was arrested.

city for the purpose of preparing plans and
specifications for the new Catholic church
building. U it to occupy the present site of
the Sacred Heart church on Bryan street
and to be T.'ixiriO feet. The edifice will lie
planed aud built with the view of convert-
ing the same into a cathedral whenever a
diocese is established in the northern part

a severe bruise on the forehead and

There arc in the city hospital three
unfortunates : Alfred Strickland a col-
ored man who has been iu the hospital
for several mouths sick but lor the
paot few weeks has given evidence of
insanity and Dr. Carter hits turned
him over to the county court. A wo-
man called Morphier Hell is another
who is a lit subject lor other care than
the Lospitnl while David Waxlie is
idiotic aud the Doctor thinks tho coun-
ty farm is a better place for the two
last named thau the city hospital.
