who has had her In charge has evl
dontly got a portion of his deserts
through the prompt action of the otll-
cer of the law who signs his name ot

Hoatt forced her from her home about
three years ago; that lie bas'had her
since that time and that he has al
ways treated her cruelly. Hoatt
lirst claimed the child as his daughter
but afterward said she was his wife if
you know of any such family In your
county please advise me. The little
girl says that her mother is dead and
that her grandmother raised her. Anv

of the largest uud finest cotton stalks
yet brought to this office for exhibi

made by Mr. L. M. Connor whoso tes
timony before the jury of inquest will

Dr. A. A. Johnsou was sworn and
testified us follows :
On last Thursday cveninir I was di
rected by Judge Iturford to make mi
examination of two dead men lying at
Uie Commercial restaurant; 1 called lu
Dr. Easley to assist me in mukhig the
post-mortem examination; from an ex
amination we concluded that both of
the deceased came to their death by the
use of oxulic acid.
L. M. Connor was sworn and testified
as tollowa: -
I am a practical chemist; toth stom
achs of the deceased were submitted to
me for examination; gave them a most
thorough analysis and was able to dis-
cover oxalin acid in sufficient quanti
ties to cause deatu in botn tne stom-
achs examined; was engaged in mak-
ing the analysis about two days.
After a brief deliberation the jury
proceeded to render the- following ver
dict:
We the Jury of inquest And that
the deceased Ftedollii Dudly and
Frank Deurr came to their death in
the city or Dallas on the 6th day of
August 187. by the use of oxslie acid
administered to them either by them
selves nr by some other iiersou to the
Jury unknown.

the Dallas Bridge Company to the fol-
lowing effect:
The Dallas Bridgo Company will
permit the citizens of Dallas county to
pass over its bridge at the following
rates: Foot passengers and persons ou
horseback to pass free; wagons and
vehicles of any kind at one-half the
rates now charged. These rates to ap-
ply only to actual residents of Dallas
county. Provided thut tlie Couuty
Court will close and keep closed all
public or private roads across the Trin-
ity river within three miles of the
bridge and on an air line. Tlio com-
pauy reserving the right at any time
in the event of any public or private
road being opened within the above
liniltsand remaining opeu for the space
of ten days after a notice in writting
signed by the President or Secretary of
said company is served upou the Chief
Justice to declare this contract null
and void ; and said company reserves
all its rights to charge for toll without
reference to this contract

be supplied.
A proposition to build a plank fence
