We give place to the above as a mat
ter of publio interest and also of in
dividual justice to all whom it may
concern aa we have reason to believe
that parties have been blamed who
are not bin me-worthy in tho premises
The majority of tho Court have' as
sumed the reenonsibility. e think
it will strike.every citizen as quite sin
gnlsr that so important a movement
should have been sprung upon the
people and tax-payers of tho county
without previous outside discussion
or iu fsct any outside kuowledge that
it was oven in contemplation ; and es
pecially that having been determined
upon to publio notice should have
been given for bids from the owners of
suitable property as is common in simi'
lsr oases bo as to insure tho most
suitable location and the best bargain
to the county. Tho purchase of any
Poor Farm by the county is very ob
jeotiooable to many perhaps a ma-
jority of our people and it would seem
only fair that all should have had
bearing on the subjoct. While we are
ioolined to favor the plan the mode of
getting at it which baa been adopted
wo think cannot be commended. The
Rust farm was sold only some three
months previous for about I860. That
was all it would bring after baviug
been very thoroughly advertised. The
publio oan scarcely fail to wonder by
what process under the steady general
deoliue in property whioh has been go-
ing on it ia supposed to have advanced
to $1200 sinco that time. It is cer
tainly not unreasonable to suppose
that had proposals for property been
advertir-ed for a better bargain for the
county might have been bad.
In making those remarks we dis
claim any purpose of oalling in ques
tion the motives of the majority of the
Court. They doubtless meant for the
best and they may actually have done
the best for the county. We merely
publis'.i the record aod indicate our
views in the iotcrest of the public
leaving every other citixen to form his
own opiuions on the subject.

4o an extraordinary degree his father
Even in the extreme poverty cf his
later years he preserved a dignified

In his conversation whioh ia very
learned and at times highly enjoyable
he never allows you to forget two things
to wit : That he i a Virgiuian and that
bis father was President of the United
States. Although President Tyler's

Times will be better next spring.
Already some bondholders who in
stead of six por cent can now only get
four pe' cent. are taking tneir capital
out of bonds aod buying the leeim-
nle of real estate. Oue real estats
agent bas done more business in the
last three weeks than for eighteen
months belore and it was all for per
aoos who began to think bonds a poor
investment and therefore sold their
bonds to buy lots on which to build
bouses. This will give employment to
a cood many mechanics ana as tney
get money trade will revive. Congress
will certainly when it meets in De
cember. do what will ahow bond hold'
eisthat (heir blood-sucking will be
atonned. What Congress will do re
mains to be seen. Its members fresh
from the people will be impressed with
the necessity of doing something to
shake off the bond fooubus; to give
a greater supply of money to throttle
the National Rank system to favor
colonisation of the publio lands by
poor men sod to check the great mo
nopolies that make the forms ot lie
publican institutions a mockery. Con
gress may order the redemption of
bonds in greenbacks or their repudia
tion since their holders have been paid
double what they invested.
Congress will certainly put aoend
to the villainy of Sherman either by
his impeachment or by the passage of
laws that he cannot evade as he has
these intended to prevent the extreme
contraction of the currency. A great
inflation is not wanted by anybody
but the oountry needs more money in
actual circulation than it has and it
will get it by fully monetizing silver
and its free coinage by increasing the
supply ot greenbacks and having them
issued by fhe Government and not by
shaving National Banks.
If we get these things and a system
of colonisation on the publio lands a
new era of prosperity will begin.
There are other great measures that
must be passed to prevent greedy
capitalists crushing the poor. And
tbey will be passed. The powers of
law have been prostituted to favor the
greed ot oppressors. Now the people
will demand not anarchy not divibion
of Dronerty. not mob violence but
laws that will check the guilty greed
of heartless monopolists and oppress
