Western Area Newsletter
Vol. 10 January 1982 No. 2Area Director's Corner
I hope that all Links, Connecting Links, and Heir-O-Links
had the happiest holidays ever. Our prayers for a
bountiful 1982.
This season of the year is my favorite and always the best for me. It is that special
time when no matter what else might be going on, we set aside a time for thanks. As
families and friends are together in thanksgiving, we strengthen ourselves, renew our
vigor for the coming year, and reflect upon the good things that have been ours
during the past year. While we are still feeling warm, thankful, and at peace with the
world we seem to float right into the spirit of Christmas and anticipation of a new
year - It's a great time!
Since Links and the cause of Linkdom are never far from my mind; I have, during this
time of reflection, thought of the many reasons for our thanksgiving as an
organization and my thanks as an area director. I'm sure that every area director
thinks that "her" area is she best. But - know that W..ter. Area is the " ast (my
apologies to Fannie, Mignon, and Regina). We are the youngest, the smallest, the
farthest and most scattered, but no where are there greater achievers. I am thankful
for you and to you as we continue to grow in love, spirit, and friendship.
As you know, all committees are in place, all chairmen have been appointed and
special project officers are working. The enthusiasm and dedication of Western Area
Links are unsurpassed. I'd like to share with you some of our efforts, and ask you to
join me in special thanks to these!
Links Working for Links
-- Link Etta Culmer, immediate past area secretary has devoted much time and
energy toward completing minutes of the 25th area conference -- a monumental
task. This record of a very special milestone in Western Area history will soon
be in your hands.
- Link Betty Anderson (San Bernardino Valley), Area Chairman of Chapter
concerns has communicated with each chapter regarding Link position papers to
be compiled by Link Ann Campbell (our own), National Program Coordinator.
Link Betty has also requested your specific chapter concerns so that we can
address these in a timely manner.
- Link Doris McCarrol (Pasadena - Altadena), Area Archivist has contacted each
chapter to let you know what she is doing to organize and catalog area archives.
She has also offered her consultative services to chapter archivists - use her,
she's willing.
