TEXAS TO HAVE
.JOHN FOX STORY
"The Trail of the Lonesome
Pine," tlrst natural color motion
picture of the outdoors, opens on
Thursday, April 10, at the Texas
Theatre, with Sylvia Sidney, Fred
Mi Murray, and Henry Fonda in
the starring roles, anil Fred Stone
a! the head of the supporting
cast.
The story is based on the well-
known novel of the same name
written by John Fox Jr. It is the
story of simple mountain people
whose lives arc ruled by their
loyalty to their family quarrels.
Fends of long standing are ear-
ned on eagerly hy younger gen-
erations of the families who have
forgotten the ancient cause of the
tpiarrnl with other families of the
mountains Their courage is great
and their ambition in life is to
Kill as many members as possible
of the enemy clan.
Into tnis backwoods country
comes civilization, in the form of
engineers who have discovered
coal in the nills. Fred McMurray
is the head engineer who falls in
love with the girl of the hills,
played by Sylvia Sidney. He save*
the life of her lover, Henry Fon
da. who later tries to kill him.
Spanky McFarland has an im
portunt part in the picture as the
youngest of the Toliver family to
want an education.
The rich coloring in this picture
is strikingly beautiful, but the
story is in no way subordinated to
the beauty as is often the cam in
technicolored pictures.
"The Trail of the Lonesome
Pine" will be shown at the Texas
Theatre Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday of this week.
