brary Saturday through Thursday.

by Dr. Ronald Williams, professor

Kerns will use a color scheme of
light blue, yellow, and black in his
exhibit to carry many newspaper
layouts

quirements for an exhibit in adver-
; tioing art, plus an accompanying

Sig Eps Win First Place
In Annual Marble Meet
Sigma Phi Kpsilon's marble
team got out it* favorite "taws"'
and won two straight games from
Sigma Nu fraternity in the an-
nual marble derby at the lab field
Wednesday afternoon.
The best 2 out of 3 contest con-
sist* of placing ten marble* in a
ring. The teams, having two play-
ers each, shoot at the marble* in
rotation, and the first learn to
knock five marble* out <>f the
ring wins the match.
The bathrolied Sigma Nu team
of Val Christian, Teague, and Dale
Irwin, Gruver, added color to the
.mtest, but they couldn't match
the methodical play of Sig Bp*
Herd Snider, Irivng, and Don Arm
strong, Killeen,
Gaily clad memlier* of each fra- [
ternity, sporting colorful hat* and
liquor bottles, stood around and 1
cheered their teams. This tradi-
tional rivalry between the two
fraternities dates back to when
they were local group* on the
campus.

vase is retained by the winner for

the fall of 1968, transferring from

Choir Will Appear
On Stage Show
Program Saturday
Brownsville'* high school choir
will appear on the stage show Sat- |
urday to offer a wide agenda of en ;
lertairiment for North Texas situ
dents.
The 45-voicc choir is under the
direction of Clayborn N'orris of j
Brownsville. 'Feasor (Iraham, mas-
ter of ceremonies, indicated that
the choir should prove a treat.
Another highlight of the evening j
will l e a dramatic western story, j
"Bill Burt," which will be presented J
by boys from the stage band. The |
group got it* inspiration for the j
story from the one-act plays given
at North Texas last week end.
In the pit the orchestra will play
Romberg's favorites, and former
student Jack Peterson will go along
with the western mood when he
plays a guitar solo.
"The Sad Sack" with Jerry Lew-
is and David Wayne is scheduled
as the evening's movie.

is going on in the national scene,"
Dr. Linden *aid. Referring to an
article in a Harper's maga-
zine lulled "Texan* Don't Know
Any Better," Dr. Linden said, "It
is not that Texas newspapers mis-
treat news, but they just don't car-
ry national and international news
us compared to other papers."
"The new* which Texas papers
carry is quite biased," he added,
particularly anything that has to
do with natural gas or oil."
He stated that most Texas pa-
pers are conservative. "They're
scared I hey might step on some-
body's toes the oil interests, ga*
interests, and others."
Texan* are afraid of "foreign"
influence the national govern-
ment, labor unions, and the U.N.,
Dr. Linden explained. Opposing
points of view are rarely ever ex
pressed, he said.
Kersey Receives
Accounting Honor
Bruce Kersey, senior from Dal
las, has been named as the out- j
standing accounting student for
1B5SI by members of the accounting
slalT, according to Tom Rose, chair- j
man of the division.
Kersey received a plaque desig-
nating the award in a meeting of
the accounting club Tuesday night
His name will also be inscribed on
a master plaque which hangs in
the business building.
Rose stated that the award was
given on a basis of scholarship
merits and extracurricular activi-
ties.
In Music Hall Auditorium
Contralto Teal Sings Tonight
Graduate recital of Miss Juanita
Teal, contralto, will be given to-
night at 8:16 in the music hall au-
ditorium.
Assisting Miss Teal in the recital
tonight will be Miss Julia Louise
Herrmann, harpist with the Dal
Ins Symphony orchestra, and Miss
J Frances Hnrdgrave, pianist.
Miss Teal will open her recital
with The Spirits Aria by Haydn,

by Handel.
She will next sing four songs

sels to members of Sigma Tau
Delta, professional fraternity for
English majors, Tuesday night. A
graduate of North Texas, Miss
Ncely served as a guide during the
fair.
Secretary Sue Coffman, Fort
Worth, said the fraternity is plan-
ning a banquet to lie held May 12
in the Crystal room of Marquis
hall. The selection of an English
major to receive the fraternity's
annual award on Honors day is un-
derway. Miss Coffman added.

Fred Belcher, president of the
professional chapter of the Society
for the Advancement of Manage-
ment in Dallas, told management
students Tuesday night that "the
basic concept in management is
understanding, and good manage-
ment is as simple as this.
"It may lie able to be stated sim-
ply," he went on. "But it often
takes much work to keep these
channels of understanding open be-
tween the boss and his subordi-
nates."
Becker explained that under-
standing is the road to better man-
agement, and the way to reach
understanding is through discus-
