In the fall of 1986 the Amer-
ican Broadcasting Corporation
Inc. and the Public Broadcast-
ing Service launched a major
national media/outreach pro-
ject on the subject of adult
illiteracy in the United States.
Federal studies estimate that
at least 23 million adult Amer-
icans are functionally illiter

4.0 grading system.
Applicants must have a

from their supervisor and com-
