Santa visits Hood
“Have you been good all year?” Santa Claus asks
Kenny Sierra. Santa and Mrs. Claus (also known as
Joseph and Lorene Romano) recently made an ap-
pearance at the III Corps Headquarters to visit with
families of deployed soldiers. Joseph has been play-
ing Santa for American troops for more than 30 years.
(Cont. from A6)
ure includes more than 22 tons
toiletries 14 tons of plastic bags
and 11 tons of sun screens and lip
balm. Also more than 145000 Red
Cross comfort kits have been
shipped to Saudi Arabia or have
been distributed en route.
ANDERSON SAID hundreds
people many of them spouses
are volunteering worldwide to help.
r“These people are the backbone of
Hteak£
lie organization” he said.
Before troops leave for the
Middle East Red Cross workers
tell the whole family including
Guard and Reserve members
about the assistance they can
expect. “We’re also available for
domestic emergency messages”
said Anderson. “There are some
things we can’t help with but we
will refer them to the right place
for assistance.
