'Where Are the Girls?'
Ask Me Tag Inspires Marriage Offer
U> HKEND t KISSKLL
"Will you marry me?" asked the
young man.
"I'm sorry," answered the coed
dressed in green and white, "but
I'm engaged."
"Well, you're wearing a sign that
says 'Ask Me'," the bright student
replied.
This was typical of some of the
questions thrown at about 150 "Ask
Me" students who helped new
North Texans during Orientation
Week. The group consisted of the
members of Tulons, Given Jackets,
Meritum, Alpha Lamlsla Delta, Phi
Eta Sigma, Blue Key and other
students invited by those organisa-
tions.
The Ask Me's guided new stu-
dents to buildings, helped with
schedules and answered various
questions, which sometimes proved
to be quite amusing.
Two information stations were
manned by Green Jackets and fa-
culty members. A table was local-
«*d in the foyer of the Administra-
tion Building and a hexagon-shap-
ed InKith was placed on the grassy
area between the Library and the
Campus Calendar

language?" and "Where do I get
my card packet?" were asked re-
peatedly.
Then there ware the unusual
one*.
"I attended Texas Tech last
year, I'm going to Arlington State
now, but plan to come to North
Texas next semester. What should
I take at Arlington in order to
meet graduation requirements here
when I tranfer?"
"Where are all the freshman
girls?"
One set of parents even came
to the information booth inquiring
about their son. They said they
were staying in a motel in town
until they could got their son situ-
ated. They had let him out of the
car at 8 a.m. Monday, ami at 5 p.m.
the freshman still had not returned.

ably in a "majors meeting" and
would undoubtedly be back to his
room shortly.
