The work of placing the marble dias
of the statue in place nit Austin has
been nearly completed and nil Is in
readiness- for the arrival of the statue
Tho dlas was pulled up the avenue at
Austin to Its position In the capltol
grounds with a great deal of trouble
owing to Its great weight and It Is ex-
pected that great difficulty will bo liad
in placing the monument Itself in po-
sition; Tho statue 1s to bo erected by the
surviving inombers of the Eighth Tex-
as Cavalry known as tho Terry Ran-
gers as a- fitting tribute to the memory
of their comrades who have passed
away. Altogether It la a magnificent
piece of work and will form a fitting
commemoration of one of the most far
mowrreglments in the Confederacy.
