LIVELY TIME EXPECTED.
PHILADELPHIA May 8. With the
exception of some minor details .the
program for tho Convention and Re-
union of the Benevolent and Protec-
tive Order of Elks which Is to be held
In this city during tho week of July
15th is complete and is now presented
to the public for tho first time.
From reports received from all sec-
tions of the country it is expected that
upwards of 150000 visitors will he In
Philadelphia during the Convention
and the Executive Committee pf Phil-
adelphia Lodge No. 2 of which Ches-
ter P. Ray Is chairman confidently
hopes and looks for the co-operation
of the people of this city In tho en-
tertaining of this mighty host of stran-
gers. The committee Ib now raising
entertainment fund of $100000.
Of such ( large proportions is an
Elks Conventloa that tho council has
taken official recognition of the event
and a joint committee has been ap
pointed to co-operate with the local
committee of Elks. Mayor Royburn
has also expressed himself as Inter-
ested in the Convention and will do
all his official position enables him
to make the Convention week the most
memorable In the city's history.
John C Jones formerly a member
of the mercantile firm o "Martin
Jones & Stultz" of this city. Is here
from his present home at Dallas
where he Is a successful and wealthy
banker. He Is on his way home from
Hamlin where he has just established
a bank. D. M. White one of his
neighbors here says that it has been
22 years since Mr. Jones left Abilene.
