Tuesday morning he endeavored to get
rid of the smoko In tho holo by work
ing some brush into' its and then pull
ing it out. Ho was again warned by
Mr. Zinn to bo careful.
While working with tho brush his
glasses foil into the hole and ho re-
marked that now ho would bo compel-
ed to go down after them. A helper tied
a rope around his body and ho was
lowered into the hole. He filled a buck
et with the papor ashes and started
up again when ho suddenly called to
those above to lower a rope to him
