HLATON. Tex. pec. 27 In spite
of the cold and rains the pat week.
Hlaton ginned 6T3 bales of eutton
bringing tho total for the seaxon
up to 7650 bales. It is safely es
timated that tho 9000 bale mark
will be reached.
The Murray-Tudor cotton oil
mill is installing the machinery and
wilt 1H ready to operate January
first. Th plant will be run by a
one hundred horse- power Fair
banks-Morse engine.
The bank officiate atate that the
mer-'lianta and farmers are in a
better state financially than for
many years. 1'racttcally all obliga-
tions have bean met and the banks
depoMitH are heavy. This is given
utrength by the ttrong trading. The
merchants ara forced to keep their
store open until lata hours every
day to take care of the trade.
Practically ail the buying i cash.
Many of the farmere who came to
Slaton during the past few yar
and settled in email nouses are
building modern houses. Slaton
has four lumber yards and they are
oing a rustling business. Tite
