trading schooners that braved tho un-
usuol heavy Arctic Ocean lco and
worked their way along the northern
rJra of tho continent to Ranks Land

Over 2500 furs were stored on
nanks Land nlone nwaltlng tho boats
according to reports brought hero. For
two years the Ice has prevented boats
from reaching tho Bpot and as a re-
sult tho trappers on the island have
been piling up what Nome men said
was the greatest cargo ever brought
around into tho Bering Sea.
