ter speechea were beard by the board
of directors of tt-e station from person
representing dlfftrent auctions of the
state.
The board of director waa called to
order Wednesday morning In the city
council chamber by Chairman Marlon
Sun norn of AlvaraJo of the board ot
directors of the Agricultural and Me-
chunlcal college. Other members ol
the board prexent were aa follows:

bin lnl.ion; Capt. P. A. Relchnrdt.

Mulone Hunter; A. C. Ollvcrt Doug-

A telegram was received from John
W. Kokernot of Sun Antonio a mem-
ber of the board of directors to the
effect that he had the mlfortuno to
break his ankle and could not be on
hand.
The committee proceeded to busi-
ness and dlscuHhed the various phrases
of the station the noII and offers guar-1
anteed for Its location. I
The speeches were not made until
Wednesday night and came In this or
der:

Broke for Arlington. They were fol-
lowed by Mr. Itawllns. representing
Ward county. T. W. XlurtRen of Gray-
aon comity spoke contending that
there were nil necessary kinds of land
In Grayson county for an exertiilent
station. The conclu1ln speech waa
delivered by Congra'man DeUraffen.

It waa after a three hours' execu-
tive session the committee decided
that the station would be located In
either Henderson or Smith county.
A corstulttee of three consisting of
Messrs. JohnHon Oliver and Kelchardt
waa appointed to vibit the two coun-
ties and decide the matter. It wa
understood however that the county
r polut selected must agree to guar-
antee the expensea for the second year
In the abnence of state appropriations.
It Is the consensus of opinion with
the board that the next legislature will
provide for the establishment ot more
experimental stations. They say that
the enthusiasm manifested at this
meeting shows beyond a question the
Interest felt and that It la an object
lesson to the legislature.

Ironwooil. Mich. Nov. 7. Ten lives
were loet and four buildings destroy-
ed by fire which started In the Klon-
dike theatre at Hurley Wis. early
Wednesday morning.
The Klondike was a vaudeville thea
ter and all of the dead and Injured
were connected with the theatre as
performers. Most of them lived at
Hurley.
The fire ftarted on the stage and
In a few minutes the entire structure
was a rrmB of flames. The third story
was used as sleeping quarters and the
fire spread so rapidly aa to cut off the
escape of the occupants.
The theatre building as quickly
consumed an. I the fire spread to ad-
joining structures.
The Ironwood fire department was
called to the assistance of the Hurley
firemen and by the hardest work Uie
town wns saved from being wiped out.
I The loss on the theatre and other
buildings burned will amount to $17-
OOrt.
I The charred remains of six of the
