Sheriff Conlee brought Arthur Col-
ford in from Harvey yesterday after-
noon and placed him in Jail on a charge
of assult with Intent to murder. He
stabbed another negro of Harvey on
Tuesday night.

Beautiful Floral Tribute.
The funeral of Capt. W. A. Bell was
conducted yesterday afternon at 2:30
o'clock from the residence of Mrs. Bet-
tie Bell with interment following in
the City Cemetery.
The remains reached the city from
his home in the bottom at one o'clock
and the procession that followed was
fully a mile In length. It was made
up of his neighbors and friends in the
bottom a number of prominent Cald
well citizens the entire Italian colony
lu the bottom and some two or three
hundred of the faithful negro laborers
from the farms he managed and the
neighboring farms. It was Indeed
touching sight to see these faithful
Servants who bad been under his di-
rection and leader ihip for so long fol-
lowing their dead master. Their sor-
row was genuine and was clearly de-
picted on every face.
The floral offerings were the hand-
somest ever seen in Bryan and their
tasteful arrangemnt upon the grave
by the ladies converted it iuto a veri-
table bank of flowers. 1
The funeral services were conduct
ed bv Dr. T. 1L Morris pastor of the j
First Methodist church and the fol-
lowing gentlemen acted as pall bear-

S. Xewsome. Jim Ogden and B. L.
Reed.

the morning service the other at night.
