J. B. Prescott of Houston Is in the
city to adjust the losses on the Bonne-

were partially destroyed by fire some
time ago. The loss of Mr. J. O. Tucker
was adjusted today and agreeably set-
tled. Mr. Tucker carried $GO0 Insur-
ance. He ha3 reopened his barber
shop in the second story of the Dunn
& Daly building.

Coming Attractions
NOIES OVER THE CITY
All the students of the various
schools in the city and also the A. &
M. students are enjoying a holiday
today on account of Washington's
birthday. The banks and the post-
office are closed. '
A small fire occurred in the western
part of town early this morning. The
roof of the house of Mrs. Annie Pat-
terson caught fire from a flue and but
for the quick action of some of the
young men boarders a serious fire
might have resulted. A bucket brigade
was quickly formed and the fire was
aoon extinguished.
County Surveyor II. O. Jones spent
today at Mlllican with Prof. P. H.
Dawson doing some land surveying.'
The firemen's benefit carnival has
been postponed until March 20 one
week later than the original date. The
carnival Is for the purpose of raising
funds to purchase horses for the de-
partment. There was frost and ice again this
morning. The Ice was a trifle thicker
than that of yesterdayornln.
DAVIS-MILLER.
Mr. William Davis and Miis Kate
Miller were married this afternoon at
3 o'clock at the home of the bride's
parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller
Rev. Glenn Flinn officiating.' The wed-
ding comes as a suprrise to the many
friends of the young couple not many
of them having shared the secret be-
fore the event was made public. It
was a quiet home wedding only a few
friends and the Immediate family be-
ing present.
Mr. Davis has been in the city for
some months and is employed as night
telegraph operator at the Western
Union 'office. He has proven to be a
young man of worth and integrity and
has made scores of friends who con-
gratulate him on this happy occasion.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Miller of this city and
was reared here. She is a charming
young lady accomplished and talented
and quite popular among a host of
friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis will reside in
Bryan.

ment of Mr. E. F. Parks as a candi-
date for alderman. Mr. Parks reluc-
tantly consented to the use of his
name and yielded only with the under-
standing that he was to enter no
scramble or contest for the office. If
the people elect him he is wMling to
make the sacrifice of his time and ren-
der the city the very best service of
which he is capable.

A revival has been announced for
the First Methodist church to begin
on March 5. The preaching will. be
done by the pastor Rev. Glenn Finn
and he will be assisted by Pro. A. C.
Fisher and wife of Fort Worth gospel
singers.
Rev. Flinn has had considerable ex-
perience in revival work and Mr. and
Mrs. Fisher are widely known
through Texas as effective gospel
singers. Their duets draw crowds ev
erywhere they go.
COTTAGE PRAYER MEETINGS.
A series of cottage prayer meetings
w ill be conducted this week and next
under the auspices of the First Meth-
odist church preparatory to the re-
vival to begin In this church on March
3. Tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock
a meeting will be held at the residence
of Mr. J. N. Cole and Friday at 3:30
p. m. a meeting will be held with Mrs.
Zimmerman. All are invited to these
meetings.
