Washington April 20. President
Taft bas full knowledge that the Mex-
ican reply. to America's demands is
recriminatory in certain points. It is
feared that a disposition exists in
Mexico to make political capital out
of the activity of Americans in the
revolution and this will be promptly
resented if It appears likely to impair
the good feeling of the two countries.
Favors Giving Taft Carte Blanche.

Stone (democrat) of Missouri In' the
senate this afternoon made a positive
declaration favoring giving President
Taft authority to prevent a repetition
of the killing of American citizens by

ough search of Harris county for
stock afflicted with glanders has been
ordered. Owners having any stock de-
stroyed will be coraiensated to the
amount of 10 jx-r cent of the value.

El Paso Texas April 20. Francisco
I. Madero Jr. has refused absolutely
to grant an armistice as suggested by
Dr. Gomez at Washington. He sent
word he would talk armistice after the
expected battle at Juarez and then
only. This battle may begin this even-
ing at the expiration of the twenty
four hour notice period given by the
rebels late yesterday.
The insurrectos have such a small
supply of food that It is evident that
they Intend to make the attack soon
If at all.

night for Fort Worth. The rains are

morning destroyed the Texa3 Central
roundhouse here damaging two loco
motives and destroying much valuable
property. The damage has not yet
been estimated.
The explosion of a kerosere tank
shot flames two hundred feet into the
air.

The A. & M. College baseball team
met defeat yesterday afternooti at the
hands of the team from Baylor uni-
versity by the score of 3 to 2. The
game was a close one as the score
shows and the teams are about even-
ly matched. Another game will be
played this afternoon.

reported here that Nicragua is facing
a new revolution and many of its In-
habitants are favoring annexation to
the United States. President Estrada's
dictatorial methods are. said to be the

ed that President Taft will consider
Congressman Nicholas Longworth of
Ohio among the probable successors
of Ambassador Hill who recently re-
signed his post at the German capital.
Mr. Longworth is the son-in-law of
former President Roosevelt.
Walter Tips Dead.

Tips hardware man and former State
senator died at his home here this
morning aged 76. He was a native of
Germany.

The committee appointed by the
Commercial Club to negotiate for the
purchase of the present light plant by
the city has been at' work yesterday
and today but no definite results have
been accomplished up to this time.
Yesterday afternoon the committee
met with the city council and a
lengthy discussion of the proposition
ensued. This meeting was held in or-
der for the committee to ascertain the
attitude of the council.
A meeting waa held this morning
with Mr. Preston of the light plant
and after a long discussion adjourn-
ment was taken to meet Monday
morning at 10 o'clock at which time
Mr. Preston will present certain data
that Is desired by the committee.
