Governor Will Make Public Corre-
spondence Attorney General
Parries Thursts.

Austin Texas April 23. Governor
Colquitt today gave out his corre-
spondence with Attorney General
LIghtfoot about alleged violations of
the liquor laws by social clubs. He
asks why LIghtfoot ha3 not prosecuted
the Austin Country .Club of which
himself (LIghtfoot) Tom Ball and
Jake Wolters are members. He says
that fifty-six violations of the liquor
law in Galveston have been reported
to the attorney general and no action
has been taken in any of the cases.
It Is understood that Attorney Gen-
eral LIghtfoot will reply that the Gal-
veston cases are misdemeanors which
he can not prosecute and that before
further action in the club cases he
will await the supreme court's de-
cision as to whether it is a violation
of the law to sell liquor through a
club.
The governor serves notice that he
will send to the legislature informa-
tion about certain land suits brought
by Attorney General Llghtfoot's department.

tanks throughout West Texas are full
from recent heavy rains. The greater

REGULATIONS OF PAROLE LAW

Austin Texas April 23. Governor
Colquitt today approved the regula-
tions of the new parole law which
become effective Friday.
Under the new law no convict twice
convicted on charges of felony is al-
lowed a parole nor eau he be paroled
if he violated the prison rules twice
in the twelve months next preceding
the application for parole.
No lawyer or friend can go before
the commission in behalf of a convict.

lodge of Knights of Pythia3 of Texas
opened here this moring. The race
for the next convention is between

preme chief of the Pythian Sisters
who also are holding their meetings
here.
HARVEY VOTED SCHOOL TAX.
The qualified voters of Harvey held
a special election Saturday to decide
the question of a special school tax.
The tax proposition carried by a large
majority.

can and foreign cotton dealers who
lost over $4000000 through manipula-
tion of bogus bills of lading in the

railroad.
