ern is filling the holes and washes in
Bryan street with gravel and other-
wise grading and Improving its right-of-way.
Mrs. Annie Forrest arrived from
Navasota this afternoon. Mr. Forrest
has been here several weeks and they
will make Bryan their home in future.
Mrs. J. T. Aycock and granddaugh-
ter MIfb Irene Pierpont of New Or
leans who have been visiting in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Lawler
left this afternoon for Waco where
they will visit relatlves-
Prof and Mrs. Jesse Bullock of Col-
orado City are guests of Mrs. Bullock's
parents Mr. and Mrs. J. H. White of
Wixon. They came through In an auto-
mobile and had no mishaps or delays
during the whole trip. They left Col-
orado Wednesday morning and arrived
'at Mr. White's Friday afternoon.
COT. COUNCIL MEETING
Vote of Recent City Election Can-
vassed Results Declared and
New Officers Sworn In.
The City Cojgflconvened In reg-
ular monthly session in the Council
chamber of the city ball last night.
Mayor W. W. Harris presided with
Aldermen Parks Jenkins Vick and
Walker present. Absent Alderman
Levy.
A number of unpaid bills were ap-
proved and ordered paid.
The three water light and sewer
bonds for $1000 each which have been
recently purchased from the owners
by Mayor Harris out of the sinking
fund for retirement were burned in
open Council as the law requires.
It was ordered by the Council that
the street committee proceed imme-
diately to have a concrete crossing
put in between the J. B. Reed resi-
dence and J. Groginsky's home.
A motion was carried that the sewer
to the Denena place be connected up
the city having accepted a deposit al-
ready and held same for a consider-
able time.
A motion was passed that an exten-
sion of the light service to the south-
west part of town be investigated as
to the probable number of subscribers
and the cost
The resignation of City Secretary
Ed S. Derden was formally accepted.
Acting on Instructions at a recent
Council meeting the street committee
reported that it had investigated he
building of a house by Guy Board
which was alleged to be in the street.
The committee reported that the mat
ter had been attended to by the City
Engineer and that the property had
been granted Mr. Board in exchange
for another piece of property. A dia-
gram of the exchange was presented
and the Council ordered that the ad-
justment be confirmed.
The election returns were can-
vassed the results declared and the
following newly elected officers were
sworn in by the Mayor: City Secre-
tary John A. Moore; Marshal T. P.
Boyett; and Aldermen John Daly
Tyler Haswell and Sam B. Wilson.
The old Council then adjourned and
the new board was called Into esaion
by the Mayor. .
The report of the fiscal agent was
read in the Council by Deputy Secre-
tary. C. H. Lewis.
A motion was passed that Eugene
Edge be instructed by the City Secre-
tary to pay over to the city the amount
of 2500 which Is due the city on the
block of ground purchased from the
city on which his new building is lo-
cated. The money has not heretofore
been paid to the city awaiting the
perfection of title and other matters.
Judge Doremus was instructed by
the Council to locate the heirs of
James McCormick who died in the
city recently and left a small estate.
The Council then adjourned until
next Monday night.
GAMMILL OUTFIT ARRIVED.
The Gammlll grading outfit arrived
from Louisiana yesterday afternoon
and is unloading today and will rest
until Monday at Dellwood Park when
it will proceed out to the camp on
the interurban right-of-way to the
bottom. Mr. Harry Gammill Is In
charge of the outfit and arrived in the
city several days ago.
