The number of persons killed
during the late Indian raid in Kan-
sas foot up seventy -five whites and
two Indians.
We see by the Waco Examiner
that they have had several sporadic
cases of seat let fever in Waco. The
physicians say the disease is of a
mild type.
The Epoca, of Madrid, publishes
a letter, dated Tangier, October 11,
stating that the United States repve
sentatives have been publicly insult
ed by the Moors, and the offenders
have not yet been punished.
The Falls River defaulter, Hatha-
way, peached during his trial on his
associates in the grand swindle, im-
plicating thereby, leading Massachu-
setts Senators and Representatives
and many prominent church mem-
bers.
Information has been received at
the Mint Bureau that recent orders
for the purchase of gold bullion at
Charlotte, N. C., and Denver, Col.,
is a complete success, the miners be-
ing very glad to sell their bullion for
its coin value in legal tenders less
the charges for melting and assij-
ing.
A delegation ot New Hampshire
postmasters visited Washington last
week to urge the authorities to help
them with money and speake: s.
They were informed by Mr. Hale,
chairman of the Republican Execu-
tive Committee, that no funds need
be expected from Washington, as
the news from the west gave no hope
of success for the Republican paity,
and that cleiks and employes of the
departments would refuse to contrib
ute a dollar fur New Hampshire.
Am;ng the most recent cutes ef-
fected by the agcncy of Pope Pius
IX, and cited to make good the claim
of immediate beatification, are the
following: A joung nun at Paris
was relieved ot a frightful attack of

of a pair of white silk drawers which
had belonged to the late pope, and
happened to be in the possession of
the convent. An Augus'inc nun at
