In a candlelight service
at the First United Metho-
dist Church in Omaha,
Miss Lola Jean Vaught
was united in marriage
to Auvis Wayne Hampton
in a double ring cere-
mony Saturday, Nov. 15
at seven o'clock.
The Rev. Earl Craw-
ford officiated.
The bride is the daugh-
ter of Mrs. Cecil Vaught
of Omaha and the late
Mr. Vaught.
The groom is the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs.
George W. Hampton of
Cornett.
Vows were exchanged
before a white wrought
iron arch and kneeling
bench decorated with gar-
lands of greenery and
white 9tephanotis high-
lighted with white doves
and love knots.
On each side of the altar
were fifteen branch can-
delabras with pink taper-
ing candles and arrange-
ments of white gladiolus
and pink bows. The family
pews were marked with
pink bows and white
stephanotis.
The bride, given in
marriage by her uncle,
Belton Richards, wore a
formal length wedding
gown of Angelskin peau
fashioned empire style
with appliques of Venise
lace encrusted with se-
quins. Her dress featured
a bateau neckline, the
three - quarter length
sleeves and A line skirt
were edged with scalloped
sequined lace.
The chapel train,
attached to the gown,
flowed gracefully in a
wide sweep from a bow
at the back of the dress.
The train was bordered
in Venise lace encrusted
with sequins. Her head-
piece was decorated with
sequins and pearls to
which was attached a
white tulle shoulder

tradition by wearing
"something old, new,
borrowed and blue." She
carried a bouquet of white
carnations with a white
cymbidium orchid with a
purple throat.
Mrs. Jerry Hester of
Wichita Falls, matron of
honor and cousin of the
bride, wore a floor length
dress of bright pink peau
de sole. Mrs. James L.
Weeks of Commerce,
bridesmaid, wore a light
pink dress of identical
design. Each dress fea-
tured an empire waist-
line circled with velvet
ribbon.
Their headpieces were
pink satin attached to pink
net with appliques of
matching lace scattered
over the net. Each carried
a nosegay of white car-
nations.
Alvis Hampton, twin
brother of the groom,
served as best man.
Douglas Jacobs, nephew
of the groom, was
groomsman. Seating the
guests were Anthony
Richards and Robert
Richards, cousins of the
bride and Gerald Hamp-
ton and Gary Hampton,
nephews of the groom.
Lighting the candles
were Ricky Richards,
cousin of the bride, and
Weldon Hampton, nephew
of the groom.
Mrs. Gerald Hampton
was at the organ playing
the traditional wedding
music and accompanied
Vanoy Boozer as he sang
"Because" prior to the
ceremony and "The
Lord's Prayer" as the
couple knelt at the altar.
For her daughter's
wedding, Mrs. Vaught
wore a coral dress with
matching accessories.
Her corsage was white
carnations. The groom's
sisters, Mrs. Albert
Crossland of Marietta,
Mrs. Leonard Jacobs of
Hughes Springs, Mrs.
Mannie Davis of Marshall
and Mrs. H. T. Vaughan
of Dallas wore corsages
of white carnations.
The reception was held
following the ceremony
in the fellowship hall of
the church. Receiving the
guests were the bride's
mother and uncle, the
bride and groom, and the
wedding party. Guests
were registered by Miss
Marilyn Jacobs, niece of
the groom. She also pre-
sented the guests with
"Thank You" scrolls.
The bride's table was
covered with a white lace
cloth over pink with pink
bows at the edge of the
table. Centering the table
was a silver candelabra
with pink candles and pink
carnations.
The four tiered col-
umned cake was deco-
rated with pink sugar spun
roses and topped with a
bride and groom. Punch
was served from a crys-
tal bowl.
Those serving in the
reception were Mrs. Rod-
ney Cook, Miss Linda
Estes and Mrs. John
Thomas Adams.
For travel the bride
wore a navy dress with
matching plaid coat. The
orchid from her bridal
bouquet was pinned at her
shoulder.
After a wedding trip,
the couple will live in
Springfield Heights in
Hughes Springs.
Golden anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. (Bud) Williams will be honored
on their golden wedding anniversary with an open
house from 2 until 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23 at their
home in Bryans Mill. They are former residents
of the Bryans Mill community but have been doing
some traveling for the last five years. The couple
has one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Brown, two grand-
daughters and one great granddaughter. Mrs. Williams
is the former Lillis Abston. Hostesses for the
occasion will be friends of the couple. All friends
and relatives are invited to attend the celebration.
