BISTORY OF ELLIS COUNTY.
Jemima C. Calhoun,also of Effingliam; Malinda
Ann, the wife of Shepard Matlock, a
farmer of Jasper county, Illinois; Riley
Sigel, a farmer by occupation, was married
to Ada Van Meter; Sylvester Nelson, a farter
of Ellis county, married Emma Willis;
Emma Ada, the wife of James H. Calloway,
a l]ardware merchant of Ellis county; and
Cora, the wife of John Carson, a farmer of
this county.

at Shreveport during the yellow fever epidemic,
and returned again to De Soto in
1875. In 1880 he removed to Whitesboro,
Grayson county, Texas, where he practiced
until 1883, when he came to Waxahachie on
account of his wife's health. He has a general
medical practice, with a considerable preference
for surgery. He is surgeon for this district
of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad,
was a member of the County Medical
Society of Ellis county as long as it existed, isR. A. A. TIOMPSON, of Ellis county, a member of the Texas State Medical Society,
was born in Texas, in 1848, a son of Dr. also of the International Association of RailD.

time in the hospital at the same place. After
his graduation he practiced in De Soto parish,
Louisiana; later took a course of lectures
at Tulane University, New Orleans; then reHe was married in 1872. to Miss Elizabeth
R. Moss, a native of Georgia, and they have
had two children: Pauline and John D.
Mr. Thompson lost his wife by death in
1888, and in 1889 he married Miss Mamie
Rucker, of Moberly, Missouri.
EORGE W. HENDERSON, a prominent
farmer of Ellis county, is a son of
John Henderson, who was born in Olaiborne
parish, Louisiana, in 1821. In 1836
he located in Red River county, Texas, where
he was engaged in farming ten years, and
then removed to Dallas county, where he diedI
