even a synopsis of it but hope to
induce him to do so. President
Thatcher has won the gratitude
of tho city in bringing' Judge
Gage hero to deliver this ad-

Abilene Military Company.
In accordance with a previous
announcement a meeting was
held at the City Hall Saturday
night for tho purpose of organ-
izing a volunteer company. J.
M. Farr was elected chairman
and A. S. Hardwicke secretary.
Enlistments were declared to bo
in order and a muraber enrolled
their dames as members of the
company. Tho company was
then organized by the electiou
of officers as shown by the ros-
ter below.
The appointment of non elec-
tive officers was deferred until
the next meeting.' Upon mdtion
it was almost unanimously de
cided to organize the company as
a cavalry company. Consider-
able enthusiasm Was manifested
by the volunteers and many of
them expressed a desire to go
early to the .front.
