BASS
To the Voters of the 42nd Judi-
cial District
domanchei Tex. Oct 29 1898.
We the undersigned citizens
members of the various churches
of the city of Comanche -where
Judge N. R. Lindsey democratic
noraineefor district judge of the
42nd judicial district has lived
for years having learned that
the-report is being circulated
throughout the district by de-
signing parties that Judge Lind
sey is an infidel take this
method of denouncing the report
as false. In the csure of his
25 years residence here within
ourknowledgenosuc'heharge has
been made against him and we
speak from our knowledge in
denying the truth of the same.
It is questionable if there is in
this county any man who has
contributed more to the building
of churches and the general sup-
port of church institutions than
Judge Lindsey and we think it
apt more than justice to him to
acouaint the people of the dis
trict with these facts in order
that the parties who are circu-
lating sucha false roport if the
same is being d6ne honestly may
have an opportunity to retract
the same; and if it is being done
from a dishonest motive the
people of the district may be
enabled to know that the parties
so. doing are men who have no
hesitaucy in despoiling the char-
acter of a good man in order that
their own selfish interests mignt
be subserved.. V -
