The season when the wombns
organizations will resume their
meetings is at hand and plans
and programs have been made
that indicate the winter wiil bo a
busy one in Abilene. For its
size Abilene has probably more
working societies than any town
in the state and to them the ci ty
owes a great deal of its progress
in the past years. Of course
there are those who notwith-
standing this tact are still har-
boring the old prejudices that
oppose woniehs clubs and socie-
ties and who judge this entire
womans movement by a few indi
viduals who may unfortunately
have rendered themselves ridic-
ulousor conspicous. It is as-unjust
to judge a society of women
by the shortcomings of some
woman who .may have advocated
the same movement as it. is to
S judge a reiigious sect by the in
iquities of one ineuiber.
As women in Organizations
must realize this fact itwould
seeni that if they had the proper
esprit do corps each and every
one would strive to presorve the
dignity and usefulness of her
club.
In all bodies of men or womon
differences will occassjonally
come about troubles ensue and
personal differences arise that if
kept in place and not thrust upon
the public for discussion may al
ways be satisfactorily adjusted.
That society may count itself for-
tunate which has diplomatic
womon in the nnsitir.n of leaders.
'Better to wear out than to
rust out" runs the old saying so
it is bub it better to keep the
working 'physical engine in re-
pair not so much that it will last
longer as that its work may be
better done while it does last.
To keep well one must rest when
rest is needed
The' common argument of the
overworked nervous woman is
that she "simply cannot take
time to iesi.'1 Ten fifteen min-
utes half an hour or an hour in
a long hard day rests' one to
more than make up for the time
given in encreased amount of
work that the rested head and
hund scan accomplish afterwards.
Stop short lie down- and sleep if
possible if not lie still Improv
ed health temper and family
happiness will be the result.
The illustration of fashionable
gowns in leading fashion publi-
cations are enough to drive the
practicable woman into retire-
ment. They are simply out of
question for the active busy wo-
man of moderate -means unless
adopted with a great many grains
of common sense .
All fashionable dresses except
those made for rainy days or the
sports have trailing .skirts not
only in the back bnt ripples
about theleetin such u way as to
look as though a woman must
trip herself if she' takes one
step; forward! -Materials too are
of .'a superlative richness and

in Order not to look odd but it
