New church furniture
The Rocky Point Congregational Methodist Church will
have all new furnishings within the next few days. The Rev.
Bill Harty, pastor, is shown moving in new pews last week.
A new pulpit, pastor's chairs, Bible stand and choir seats
also will be put in. Bro. Harty said the church hoped to
have the new furnishings all in place in time for the revival
which will start on July 21.

lunch Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon May and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry King-
ston and family of Dallas spent
the holidays with Mrs. King-
ston's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Arlon Hampton. They also
spent some time with Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Kingston and
boys.
Mrs. Ennis Smith of Detroit,
Mich., spent Saturday night
and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Dee Smith.
Virginia Franklin spent Sun-
day with Perlee Jay Hicks.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bell of
Arizona visited last week with
Mrs. Perry Knighton and Mrs.
Kate Carlisle.
Mr. and Mrs. Jubie Moore
of Dallas and two grandchil-
dren spent the week end with
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Shank-
les and Joan.
Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Sim-
mons and Carol had lunch
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Hicks and Mrs. Willie
Hicks.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith and
baby son of New Boston spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dee
Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Eng-
land spent the holidays with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Rufus Robinson and Mrs. Elsie

We are enjoying another
nice rain that came our way
this Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Baker
entertained their relatives and
friends at another one of those
delicious barbecues at the Paul
Baker picnic grounds on the
4th. The ladies took the cakes,
pies and salads and the Bakers
had the barbecue. There were
frierids and relatives from Cal-
ifornia, Ft. Worth, New Or-
leans, Naples, Atlanta, Linden
and other towns nearby. There
was enough for everyone and
almost as much left on the
table. Mr. Baker greeted eve-
ryone in his opening address
and said this was a tradition
cf his father's to entertain his
friends on the 4th. The Rev.
Southerland told of the mean-
ing of Independence day and
read a portion of scripture.
Mr. Manning of Atlanta voiced
the prayer. We are looking
forward to another July 4th.
Thanks to the Bakers for a
wonderful day.
Mr. and Mrs. Curt Oppel of
Dallas were guests in the home
of Mrs. Metta Swint last week.
On Tuesday of last week, Mrs.
Oppel, Mrs. Swint and Mrs.
Eitel surprised Mrs. Ruby Bak-
er on her birthday and were
dinner guests in the Jorden
Baker home.
Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Slawson
of Shreveport and Mrs. Ethel
Jackson were guests in Mrs.
Swint and Mrs. Eitel's home
last Sunday. We are looking
forward to a visit of Mrs. Jack-
son very soon.
Mrs. Estell Thompson of
Daingerfield, Mrs. Odie John-
son and Mrs. Austin Zimmer-
man were recent visitors in the
Mrs. Swint-Eitel home.
Mrs. Estell Thompson, Mrs.
Eva Loffer, Mrs. Metta Swint
and Mrs. Nell Eitel visited
Mrs. Wiley Wommack last
week. Mrs. Wommack has
been ill recently and we are
happy to know that she is
much improved now.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burkhalter
of Corpus Christi visited in the
Jim M. McCoy home over the
holiday week end.
Miss Mattie Snipes and a
friend of Ft. Worth visited at
the old home over the week
end. Mrs. W. E. Swint return-
ed home with them for a visit
at her home in Omaha. Mrs.
Swint is slowly returning to
health with the treatments she
is receiving in Ft. Worth. They
returned to Ft. Worth Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bailey
and Jimmy of Ft. Worth, Mr.
and Mrs. Red Shaw of Dallas,
and Mrs. Etta Swint of La-
Fette, La. were at home in the

Mrs. Watt McCall, Mrs. Inez
Heath and Mrs. H. 0. Allen
visited H. P. McCoy Sunday
afternoon and also in the B. B.
Webster home in Texarkana.
Mr. McCoy is slowly improving
and is very anxious to get
home. Our best wishes for an
early return home.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman en-
joyed having their children
and grandchildren on the 4th.
There were 26 present for the
day.
Jim Swint was a visitor with
his parents over the holiday.
He returned on Saturday.
Our children who attended
the meeting at Lakeview last
week returned Saturday. They
reported a wonderful week.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Bryan of
Spiro, Okla. visited in the
homes of his sisters, Mrs. R.
P. Rutland and Mrs. J. C. Mor-
riss last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McCoy
of Marshall were Saturday vis-
itors with his mother, Mrs. Lil-
lie McCoy.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bryan of
Pine Bluff, Ark. were Saturday
visitors in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. I. L. Griffin of Union
Chapel. They visited his par-
ents in Avery, Mr. and Mrs.
W. G. Bryan, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Steger
and family of Lubbock visited
in the home of his aunt, Mrs.
R. P. Rutland, last week. They
visited- relatives in Victoria be-
fore returning to their home in
Lubbock' this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Mack Steger
of Lubbock were recent vis-
itors with his sisters.
Mrs. Lillie McCoy visited
her sisters, Mrs. Sarah Cam-
eron and Mrs. R. P. Brabham,
and in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Leo McCoy over the week
end.
Mr. and Mrs. James Wom-
mack are sporting a new Chev-
rolet. Congratulations.
Mr. O. E. Warrington and
Charles visited Mrs. Warring-
ton in the hospital over the
week end. Our best wishes to
Mrs. Warrington.
Miss Syntha Morriss from
California is visiting her grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Morriss for the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cranberry
and family of Houston and Mr.
and Mrs. Raleigh Shipp of
Franklin, La. were recent vis-
itors in Mr. and Mrs. Shep
Granberry's home.
Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Swint
Jr. and family will return this
Monday for a few days from
Manson, Iowa before returning
to their home in Edinburg.
Mrs. Alice Coffman is at
home in the Henderson apart-
ment. We are very glad to
have Mrs. Coffman come to
our town to live. We wish for
her much happiness here.
Misses Mary Ann and Bon-
nie Baker visited in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Oppel
of Dallas last week. They will
return this Monday.
