Miss Patricia Hampton becomes bride
of Jerry Chambliss Thursday night
Baskets of white gladioli
and white stock formed the
background for the ceremony
at the wedding of Miss Patricia
Hampton to Jerry Chambliss
at 8 p.m. last Thursday at the
Methodist Church chapel.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hampton
of Naples. The bridegroom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. L. A.
Chambliss of Daingerfield.
The Rev. Marshall Hampton
of Palestine, cousin of the
bride, officiated at the double
ring ceremony.
Mrs. Car] Talley of Omaha
played wedding music and ac-
companied Mrs. Cluren Victor
Moore as she sang "Because"
and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride wore a street
length dress fashioned of white
cutwork pima cotton. She wore
white pearlized shoes, hat and
gloves. Her jewelry was a
pearl necklace and ear rings
and she carried a white pearl-
ized Bible topped with a white
orchid.
Miss Janetta Pope of Omaha
served as maid of honor, the
bride's only attendant. She was
attired in a pale blue dress and
white hat. She carried a nose-
gay of white carnations with
blue satin streamers.
Kenneth Chambliss of Emo-
ry, Texas served his brother
as best man.

groom, served as usher.
The bride's mother chose
for her daughter's wedding a
beige linen dress and black ac-
cessories. Her corsage was
made of white carnations.
Mrs. Chambliss, mother of
the bridegroom, chose a blue
and white dress and blue ac-
cessories. She wore a white
carnation corsage.
A reception was held at the
church fellowship hall imme-
diately following the ceremo-
ny.
The bride's register table
was laid with a white cloth
and held a bridal nosegay.
Mrs. Don King of Texas City,
sister of the bride, registered
the guests.
A white embroidered Mader-
ia cloth covered the refresh-
ment table. The center ar-
rangement was fashioned with
white carnations flanked by
satin hearts and white burn-
ing tapers.
Mrs. Kenneth Chambliss of
Emory, sister-in-law of the
bridegroom, served the punch
from a silver bowl. The cake
was served by the bride's sis-
ter-in-law, Mrs. Morgan Hamp-
ton of Mt. Ida, Ark.
Others who assisted in the
serving were Mrs. Nita Low-
ery of Henderson, sister of the
bride, Mrs. Guy Kennedy of
Haskell, also a sister of the
bride, and the bride's sister-
in-law, Mrs. M. B. Hampton.
After a wedding trip, the
couple will be at home at Dain-
gerfield, where Mr. Chambliss
is employed.
Linda Watson

at slumber party
Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Mills hon-
ored their granddaughter, Lfn-
da Watson of Marshall, with a
birthday slumber party last
Saturday night at their home
here. Linda was 11 years old.
An arrangement of roses
and daisies in a crystal bowl
and a pink and blue cake deco-
lated the refreshment table.
Punch, cake and ice cream
were served to the guests.
Those who attended the par-
ty were Judy Allen, Carol
Young. Sharon Jennings, Ka-
ren Sue Towler and Sherilyn
Brock, all of Naples, and Linda
Dianne Wommack of Omaha.

Deep-Dish Cherry Pie Is Treat Any Time

For plain good eating—spring,
summer, fall or winter—there's
nothing better than warm deep-
dish cherry pie covered with
thick cream.
i Cherry Deep-Dish Pie
(8-9 servings)
Three tablespoons quick-cook-
ing tapioca, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 tea-
spoon salt, 3 cups drained canned
pitted red sour cherries (water-
packed), 1 cup cherry juice, 2
tablespoons butter, pastry for t
one-crust pie. H
j Combine quick-cooking tapi-
oca, sugar, salt, cherries, and * j
! cherry juice. Turn mixture into ||
deep 8-inch square baking dish. j||
Dot with butter. Roll pastry Vi- H
inch thick and cut several 2-incb
slits or fancy designs near cen-
ter. Fold pastry in half or roll
| loosely on rolling pin* center on
filling. Open slits with a knife.

to permit escape of steam during
baking.)
Trim pastry, allowing it to ex-
tend %-inch over rim. Fold
pastry over edge of dish and]"
press to rim. Bake in hot oven
(425 degrees F.) 45 to 50 min-
tites or until syrup boils with
heavy Bubbles that do not burst.
Serve warm, if desired. Note: If
syrup-packed, instead of water-
packed, use only % cup sugar.
Apple Tapioca (6-8 servings)
Three cups sliced tart apples, 2
tablespoons butter, V4 teaspoon
Mrs. Zue Watson, 93 years
old, was honored with a birth-
day dinner and celebration last
Sunday at the roadside park
near Cookville.
All of her eight children
were present for the observ-
ance and many other relatives
and friends attended.

Pour some heavy cream over that deep-dish cherry pie and
then sit down and start eating.
cinnamon, % cup quick-cooking
tapioca, 1 cup firmly packed
light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon
salt, 2% cups water, 1 to 2 table-
spoons lemon juice.
Arrange apples in greased
baking dish. Dot with butter and
sprinkle with cinnamon. Com-
bine remaining ingredients in
saucepan. Cook and stir over
medium heat until mixture
comes to a boil. Pour over ap-
ples in baking dish. Cover andj
bake in moderate oven (375 de-
grees F.) 25 minutes, or until
apples are tender. Remove from
oven and stir. Serve warm with
cream.
