Cotton Farmers
Vote On Quotas
December 11
Texas cotton farmers will vote
Dec. 11 on whether to extend
federal marketing quotas to the
1957 crop.
Two-thirds approval of farmers
voting nationwide is required to
put quotas into effect. Continua-
tion of wheat quotas has already
been voted.
The United States Department
of Agriculture announced that
ea6h Texas county's 1957 cotton
acreage allotment will be within
at least one per cent of its 1956
level. This decision apparently
was aimed at quelling a prolonged
rivalry between East and West
Texas counties for increased ac-
reage.
Total Texas cotton acreage for
1957 is to be 7,410,893 acres,
Cass County Native
Dies At Texarkana
Mrs. L. C. Weaver, 80, of 2706
Walnut Street in Texarkana, died
at a Texarkana hospital at 11 p.m.
Monday after a long illness.
She was a member of a pioneer
Cass County family. She was born
at Marietta on Nov. 3, 1875, the
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
J. S. Ingraham.
A sister-in-law, Mrs: A. H. In-
graham, lives at Marietta.
The funeral services were held
at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
First Baptist Church at Texarkana
and burial was at the Rose Hill
cemetery.
W. G. Granberry of Naples was
a pallbearer at the service.'

sored a '42' party in the Pewitt
school cafetorium Monday night,
Oct. 22, with about 50 people pres-
ent.
The "Cell Block Three", swing
band, furnished the music and
Miss Nancy Hawkins was soloist.
Refreshments of coffee, drinks
and cookies were served.

Everyone is rejoicing over the
good rain here. Attendance at
church and Sunday School was
rather small. Everyone come out
next Sunday.
Mrs. J. B. Ingram has been vis-
iting the past week with her chil-
dren in Dallas, the Clarence
Brownings and Charles Ingram,
who was on leave from the army.
Larry Stringer was run over by
a horse at his home Tuesday but
escaped with slight injury.
Mr. and Mrs. Brit Baskin visited
Sunday afternoon in the Virgil
llampley home.
Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jones and
Bobby of Marietta, Mrs. R. E. Bon-
ham and Mrs, Buckhalter of Tex-
arkana were visitors Sunday in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.
Jones.

of Hughes Springs were Sunday

Murry Coker of Mt. Pleasant and
Mr. and Mrs. George Garrett of
Fort Worth. While here, Mr. and
Mrs. Garrett sold their home here
to Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Lee.
Mrs. Jack Lee and children vis-<
ited over the week end with her
father, Mr. Jim Elliott and Scot.
Caroline Lee of Naples spent
the past week end in the Willard
Buckland home.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Buckland
and children, Delbert and Elaine,
were Sunday visitors in the Ross
Barker home.
Mrs. Ettye Robinson is visiting
this week in Texarkana.
