REST AT EVENING.
The day is long and trying,
and heavy i the heart; and I am
often sighing, while dragging
weary feet. The snn is burning
o'er me; there is no grateful
shade; the rows stretch out be-
fore me that I must hoe and
spade. But when the sun has
wended his pathway to the west,
ay weary toil is ended, and even
ing bring me rest. Then comes
tha kind word spoken by loved
ones at the door; then comes the
sleep unbroken, until the night
iao'at; then comes the tuneful
passage of restful twilighthours; [ Springs.
then comes the mystic message] Misse* Fsy and Mildred King

Occasionally we are asked
why we do not publish all that
happens: It is fortunate for
these particular individuals that
discretion occasionally demands
theomission of unpleasant items.
Should we publish all that is
told us we would be wi th the an

our papers were mailed. ^ We
try toVrint items that are
news, or will encourage, help or
cheer any of our citizens along
life's ragged road. We all
doubtless would enjoy reading
§11 the news when it's about the
other fellow, but we never care
to lead aid to the gossips in the
spreading of scandals that only
leave sorrow in their trail.—Ex.
