Bowie-Cass Co-op elects new board member
Approximately 1,300 people
attended the annual meeting
of Bowie-Cass Electric Coop-
erative, Inc., Friday, Oct. 13,
and elected one new member
to the Board of Directors and
re-elected two of the incum-
bent members.
The new board member is
B. L. Bunt of Lone Star repre-
senting, the Morris County Dis-
trict. Re-elected were T. E.
Wommack of Marietta, repre-
senting Cass county and Jul-
ian Cranfill, representing Bow-
ie county. Bunt succeeds Clif-
ton Wright of Omaha. Bunt is
an emplcyee of the Lone S<ar
Steel Company and was reared
in Bivins.
Officers of the cooperative
made reports to the member-
ship on the operation of the
business for 1966. Bascoin Per-
kins, attorney for the co-op,
of Mt. Pieasant acted as mas-
ter of ceremonies.
D. M. Pinkham, president of
the board, of DeKalb reported
that the average cost of elec-
tricity per kilowatt hour has
fallen to an all-time low for
Bowie-Cass members and they
are using more electricity than
ever before.
Pinkham stressed the need
for continued growth to meet
the demand that is doubling
every seven to ten years and
for sources of capital for this
growth.
Mrs. Mabel Bryan Morriss,
secretary-treasurer, reported
on the financial condition of
Bowie-Cass. All items showed
favorable progress during the
year.
E. H. Florence, manager, re-
ported on system improve-
ments, extensions and main-
tenance. He reported a net
membership increase of 142 to
13,112.
Twenty electric appliances
were given away as attendance
prizes. The grand prize, an

Hope Methodist Church of At-
lanta.

The WSCS zoie meet'ng
scheduled for Queen City
was changed to the Doug-
lassville Methodist Church.
Quite a nice group of ladies
attended from Cornett. The
program began at 10 o'clock
and lunch was served with
each lady carrying her own
sandwiches. The dessert and
drinks were furnished by the
host church.
The Rev. Hargrove Grounds
and Mrs. Grounds of Atlanta
visited in the C. D. Betts home
and the William Curry home
Thursday.
The W. T. Walker family of
Mesquite spent a few days last
week with his parents, the
Woodson Walkers.
Pvt. John Adams of Ft. Polk,
La. and his wife, Brenda, of
Dallas, visited a few hours
with her parents, the Law-
rence Hamptons, last Sunday.
Mrs. Lila Gibson of Dallas
and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Har-
bour of Mt. Pleasant spent the
week end in the C. D. Betts
home. Mrs. C. D. Betts is im-
proving. Mrs. Velma Gibson
is aiding Mrs. Betts since she
is home from the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gibson
and son, Tony, of Naples visit-
ed the Mildred Betts Saturday

Mrs. Roy Traylor returned
home last week after a visit to
an Abilene hospital where her
son is critically ill.
Billy Thomas of Rosharon
is critically ill and will have
surgery Monday or Tuesday.
His sister, Mrs. Fred Holmes,
was notified by phone last
week of his condition.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Arnold
and R. L. McCord attended the
Fox Hunter's Association at
Almira last Friday. It was their
first visit and they reported an
interesting visit.
The Rev. McQueen will fill
the pulpit Sunday at the Meth-
odist church. If you haven't
been attending church, why
not begin. You should be bless-
ed by it.
