take thumpings
in final game
It's basketball time now for
Pewitt junior high school boys.
The Calves football teams
wound up their season Tues-
day night with losses to Lib-
erty-Eylau there.
The freshmen lost 32-0 and
the seventh and eighth grad-
ers were beaten 21-0.
The freshmen finished the
season with one win, six losses
and two ties. Their district rec-
ord was one win, four losses
and a tie.
The younger Pewitt boys
fared a little better. They won
four, lost three and tied two
in their season. In conference
play they won three, lost two
and tied one.

Monday for a session of rec-
reation training.
Miss Lucille Moore, Texas
A&M extension service recrea-
tion specialist, will direct the
session for adult leaders from
Morris, Cass, Bowie. Titus, La-
mar, Marion and Red River
counties.
The adult leaders will use
the training in their 4-H Club
meetings.
Leaders attending from Mor-
ris county will include Mrs.
Fred Vissering Jr. of Naples,
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kennedy,
Harvey Loupee, Mrs. Jerry
Grainger and Mrs. George Gil-
liam of Daingerfield, Mrs. Lee
Ansley of Rocky Branch, and
Mrs. Mayo Lanagan of Lone

workers meet
Nursing home workers of
Ibis area met for a three-day
seminar at the Naples Motor
Inn in Naples this week.
About 30 of the workers
heard Lloyd Sterling, region-
al director of the association,
discuss nursing home methods
and advancements.
Naples Girl Scouts
prepare program
Naples Girl Scout Troop 108
met last Thursday at the com-
munity center to practice their
skits for presentation at Red-
bud Retreat and for the PTA
at the school.
Those present were Beverly
Davis, Sheri Carpenter, Carla
Adams, Toni Parham, Susan
Fleming, Elizabeth Moore,
Brenda Harrison, Linda Har-
rison, Jan Jordan, Rhoda
Ranes, Deanna Roberts. Nora

Parker, Ruby Parham, Betty
Grace Wise and Cara Beth

at Daingerfield
The Anson Jones chapter of
the Daughters of the Republic
of Texas met Wednesday of
last week in the home of Mrs.
Jerrold Turner at Daingerfield
with Mrs. George Bass as co-
hostess.
The president. Mrs. W. 0.
Irvin, conducted the business
meeting.
Mrs. W. A. Ford led the
opening prayers and Mrs. Ray-
mond Reeves the salute to the
flags. Mrs. Bass read the min-
utes and gave the treasurer's
report.
The guest speaker was Mrs.
Arthur L. Jennings of Texar-
kana.
