"Which Is Christ the Lord" Christmas
Message of Baptist Church Pastor
—r
.v.wAviig^:
By REV. BEN R. STRIPLING
Pastor, First Baptist Church
At this Christmas Season, we
find our world torn by the carnage
of war. It is not the first war in
world history, and if the world
shall stand, it will not be the last
one. Said Jesus to His disciples
one day: "And ye shall hear of
wars and rumors of wars: SEE
THAT VK BE NOT TROUBLED;
for all these things must come to
pass, but the END IS NOT YET."
Because of world-wide chaos, suf-
ferings indescribable out to the
ends of the earth, the message of
the angel over the Eastern Hills
yonder should be like a ray of
sunshine bursting into a dark pris-
on. Let us thrill to it: "For unto
you is born this day in the city of
David a Saviour, which is Christ
the Lord." The humble shepherds
received the good tidings and went
immediately in search of 'this thing
which is come to pass, which the
Lord hath made known to us." No
better counsel can be given to
each of us today than to go again
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, ON EAST HIRAM STREET
to Bethlehem's Manger and behold
the Christ Child.
The word, Christ, means the
Anointed of God, and the title,
Lord, carries the idea of having
authority. It had been prophesied
by the angel to Joseph: "And she
shall bring forth a son, and thou
shalt call His Name, Jesus: for
He shall save His people from their
sins." So we have God's Anointed
Son, Jesus, the Saviour of the
world, and the Lord of the believ-
er, making His glorious advent
into the world. What an occasion!
Nothing in all history like this
great phenomenon. Lowly sur-
roundings have forevermore been
glorified, motherhood has been ex-
alted, and babyhood one of the
greatest blessings extended to man-
kind.
It will not be enough to remem-
ber each other with fitting and
appropriate presents at this
Christmas season. Giving is an
outgrowth of God's First Gift, and
must naturally follow. But we

Relate to Christ
"And she brought forth her
first born son, and wrapped him
in swaddling clothes, and laid
him in a manger" (Lute 2:7).
The events and circumstances
connected with the birth of Jesus
are interesting. This is the most
important event that ever took
place upon the earth. Every oc-
currence in the history of our
world must take it's place both
in date and importance with ref-
erence with the coming of the
Babe of Bethlehem to be the Sa-
vior of men.
About the manger cradle of the
new-born Christ Rather all the joys
and hopes of the race of man,
This was the message that the
angels brought to the shepherds as
they were keeping watch over their
flocks by night.
The poet said in the song "Joy
To The World" "the Lord is come;"
let Earth Receive Her King."
Some of the events connected with
the birth of Jesus brings a thought
of sadness to us. No room for
him in the Inn; do we have room
for Jesus in our home life; Is it
possible that we will get so taken
up wtih cares of life and pro-
grams (committee meetings, etc.,
that we will fail to give Christ tho
| proper place in our church wor-
ship. Some have never made room
for Jesus in their hearts. If you
are one of this number, why not
make this your prayer, "Into my
I Heart, Into My Heart, Come into
My Heart Lord Jesus; Come in
Today, Come in to Stay; Come into
My Heart Lord Jesus (now).
We wish for every one a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New
Year.

must be experienced. He must
be known in the heart before the
lips can truly sing His praises.

and saying, "Glory to God in the

Since that day there has been
an ever increasing understanding
of God's love toward man. His
