Mrs. Lon Thigpen, formerly
of Naples and now a resident
of Colorado Springs, Colo., has
been installed as president of
the Past Matrons Club of the
Pike's Peak region.
The club consists of 156 past
matrons of the Order of the
Eastern Star living in the area,
xs. Thigpen is a charter
lumber and past matron of
e Naples Chapter 907, which
she helped to organize. She
has been a member of the
Colorado Springs Past Matrons
Club for the past five years
and has filled various elective
and appointive offices.
She also is active in social
and service clubs.
Mrs. Thigpen is a member of
the First Methodist Church
and has been treasurer of the

Seaman Apprentice Michael
A. Smith of the U.S. Navy has
returned to the United States
aboard the guided missile light
cruiser USS Oklahoma City.
He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Marshall A. Smith of
route 1, Marietta.
The Oklahoma City served
as flagship for the Seventh
Fleet during a 30-month as-
signment in the Far East and
was active in special opera-
tions off the Vietnamese
coastline.
Smith visited nearly every
major port in the Far East,
including Singapore, Saigon,
Hong Kong, Manila and Subic
Bay in the Philippines, and
Kaoshing and Keelung in Tai-
wan.
