Plentiful Apple Supply
Makes Good Buy for
Wise Homemakers
Apples are plentiful on the var-
ious markets this time of year and,
according to Louise Mason, foods
and nutrition specialist for Tex-
as Agricultural Extension Service,
they are the most adaptable fruit
for many table uses.
Delicious, Winesap, Rome Beau-
ty, Jonathans and Wealthy are
five varities which are expected to
reach the southwest area in vol-
ume. Miss Mason points out that
while all varieties are good for
eating raw, the wise shopper con-
considers the way she is to use
apples before making a purchase.
Jonathan and Wisesap are good
for stewing, for sauces, pies and
other desserts, she says. Rome
Beauty and Wealthy are good
baking apples.
Apples are a fair source of vita-
min A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin
and ascorbic acid, essentials to
good health. For variety, the
specialist suggests that apples be
used in the menu as apple fritters,
apple stuffing or apple relish.

Cleanliness counts most
1 <
To keep her kitchen ulensils mirror-bright and her kitchen
walls spotless is every homemaker's goal. Ninety-six out
of 100 homemakers in this area cook with a Gas range.
It is no secret that many of them choose Gas on the basis
of cleanliness alone.
CLIANI Greaie-laden steam
stays inside the pan with "water-
less" Gas cooking. Only Gas
ranges give the control so neces
sary for this clean cooking.
Why? Because there are dozens
of heats to cook with—not jus*
a few.
CLEAN! Today's automatic Gas
range burners give pure stain-
less heat over the crystal-dean,
true blue flame. Pans slay mirror-
bright without scouring. No
messy, smoky "burning off" when
