Plans For Insect
Control Mode In
Meeting At Kaufman
C. Leon Hurse, county supervis-
or for Farmery Home Administra-
tion returned from a meeting at
Kaufman where plans were made
for mid-season cotton insect con-|
trol. Fifteen counties from North
and East Texas were represented
at this meeting. According to re-
ports received from other counties
the insect situation is worse than
it has been in years.
L. J. Cappleman, state director
for Farmers Home Administration
stated that it will probably take
two or three applications of poison
to bring the weevils under control.
K, 1*. Ewing with the Bureau of
Entomology and Plant Quarantine
discussed with the group the kinds
and amounts of insecticides to use
iind the methods of applying them.
Supervisor Hurse stated that in
many fields which he had checked
recently, there is a 100 percent
weevil infestation and that it
would be necessary to poison these
fields three times or more at five
day intervals in order to bring
the insects under control. Accord
ing to his report, many FHA farm-
ers have already received excell-
ent results from early season
poisoning, but in many cases it
will be necessary to continue poi-
soning.

A man had to decide which of
two girls to marry. One was a
movie queen and the other was
very homely but an excellent cook.
He decided on the cook. The
morn ing "after the wedding he
woke up and looked into the face
of his homely sleeping wife. That
was enough; he frantically cried
. . . "Get up and cook something
quick!"

A week or so ago we remarked
that it might be best not to buy
anything unless you actually
wanted and needed it*. . . But we
didn't mean for all of you to com-

something . . . We don't care so
much about tlie business, but we
would like to have something to
do to keep us busy.
In a Florida town there was a

was dismissed when she explain-

And people wonder why money
is so hard to save ... A pin-ball

have a sign . . . "You're took be-

Because something has been
done a particular way for 15 or
20 years is a pretty certain sign
that it is being done the wrong
way.
A person's worse difficulties
begin when they become able to
do as they like.
I think some of the cafes etc.

to need it, but now would be u
good time to either paint your
trim . . . your home . . or both.
There is one good thing about
writing this here stuff . . . Don't;
have very many interruptions nor
disagreements.
They say money is the root of
all evil . . . We're going to send
out statements this week and hope j
that those roots become prosper-
ous.
Ridicule should be like the old
mule and kick the fellow behind
it.
Some folks are a pleasure to
do business with and others are!
pleasant to do business without.
The cannibals had a way of]
j solving. high taxes. When they
got higher than the cost of food!
they ate the tax collector.
Seems as it now would be a
good time to try and sell some
Venetian blinds. You know when
you put blinds in your home
you're supposed to be adding a
luxury . . . For that reason we]
sell only made-to-measure blinds;
for individual windows.
One thing that hasn't gone up
. . . That's wallpaper ... (It was
high already) . . . Howsomever,
for the rest of this week, we are
having a sale on it . . . From 1-4
to 1-2 off. Alter this week, the
prices will proceed to heights un-
known.
Do you ever sit out in front of
your home and wonder . . . "What
is tliis worl.l about" . . why do we
work all day and then go home at
night. Some like to be at home
—some don't—some fix up their!
home—other don't. No, they fix
up themselves and leave home and
come home only in time to go to
bed. Yep, you wonder why? Then
you look at your hands—them
hands do your work. Then look at.
your home. That's an outcome of
wiiat your hands and mind were
able to do. Then look at your
family—they're all part of you—
you Jove'em—your'rfc proud of
them—you hope that from here
on they will be happy—but still
you'll wonder what is best for
them to be sure that its the prop-
er influence they need. Then you
look around your home and there
you are. What, you are providing
for the ones you love best. After
going through all of these thou-
ghts, then you won't wonder what
you're here for. Your wife or your
future wife—your husband or
your future husband—and all the
children (if any) will make you
know why you're here and be darn
glad of it No more worry—no
more fuss. Just get your family
and appreciate them 'nuff.
Boy 0 Boy—what a salesman.
He came rushing in and when he
left we uad multi, multi, multi
more paint, varnish and wall
brushes (to go with this high
priced paint) —Brushes from
$23.00 down. You can't raise good
corn without good seed. Nor good
cakes without good flour—Also,
you can't get a good paint job
without good paint and a good
brush.
Time to pull out some carbon
dioxide and see if I can't put out
this fire of nuisance.
Bye now.
(And buy something)

Thanks Voters
Of Collin County
The generous an'd widespread
support which the people of Col-
lin County have given to my can-
didacy for Local Representative is
heart warming and has imposed
upon me an obligation to render
them the best service of which I
am capable. Please accept my!
thanks. However, this generous
support is more an indorsement
of the splendid men and women
who carried my campaign U> the
people of the county than it is of
me. Many persons did not know
me but they did know and had
confidence in these standard bear-
ers who recommended me.
I want also to testify to the
sportsmanlike qualities of my op-
ponents: Jimmie Perkins. Jim
Barber and J. II. Webb, some of
| whom were unknown to tne at the
i beginning of the campaign. They
held their conduct.on a high plane
and merit the good Nvill of the
people of Collin County. I shall
prize their friendship, fair deal-
ing and good will.
1 am grateful to the people of
Collin County and offer my sincere
and heartfelt thanks.
