ingly discussed the Laira Haygood
School in China A dialogue was giv-
en describing the negro work in new
Bethlehem centers. Taking part were
Mesdames J. C. Harpham Nixon and

for these two schools.

Dr. K C. Pender of Abilene; state
secretary for Buckner Orphan's Home
preached at Coggin Avenue Baptist
Church on Sunday at 11:00 o'clock.
His sermon was largely along the line
of his recent experience H Europe.
Dr. Pender makes ar annual visit
to this church and presents the
claims of the orphanage which is
wholly dependent unou voluntary
contribut ons for its support. An of-
fering amounting to several hendred
dollars was given by -the congregation
last Sunday.
Recognition Service.
At a recent Recognition Service in
the Coggin Avenue Baptist Surfday
school for members of the teaching
.force of this school and ether church
members who have done any of the
Teacher Training "Work it was learn-
ed that fifty-three members have
their Sunday school diplomas. Fifteen
of this .number have Blue Seal di

work and two have finished the post-
graduate work and now hold Gold

Tuesday afternoon the Woman's
Auxiliary of the First Baptist church
met in the church. to finish the mis-
sion study book "Laborers Together"
which hns been- most interestingly
taught by Dr. W. P. Wilks. The ex-
amination on the book will be during
Christmas week the day to 'be an-
nounced later.

Council met on Tuesday evening at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Mc-
Kjnney. The time was spent in prac

SAN FRANCISCO Dec. 19. The
story of a daring skipper whose ves-
sel having been seized by Mexican
revolutionists essayed a run out oi
the harbor under cover of darkness
