according to MYs Dietrich. -
The "convention of the Texas League
of Women Voters was called'for the
better understanding of the huge task
that lies before us to study the'failuvcs
and successes of the past year and to
confer with each other and "the na-
tional officers regarding the responsi-
bilities duringi-the coming year to the
state and nation" the state h6adquat-
ters announced. r " '
"The greatest problem sill facing
.us as women is how begt we may pro-
vide proper living conditions for our
families on the amount' of .money at
our. disposal" the announcement-said.
'Tn the past the congress and leg-
islature did not concern us or. so we
thought. -.But with thc coming of the
world waf and the ballot yfe have
changed. We are how thinking. We
have learned the price of groceries and
dry goods is clearly affected by the
cost of national;$rmament and a prof-
ligate state prispn. management; we
are questioning-the wisdom of the
saving of a few thousand dollars on
public educational with a future loss
in intelligent citizenship incalculable
in dollars and cents; we are wondering
whether the protectitui of women both
as mothers and economic- producer? is
not a greater safeguard to the ' state
than paternalism and class legislation
are perils" '
Several members of the national
board of the League of Women Voters
expect to visit San Antonio Galves-
ton and El Paso and probably othor
Texas cities' while in the state.

ONE OF THE SEASON'S SMARTEST
OXFORDS WITH SPECIAL
COMFORT FEATURES
A modish shoe in which there is also refreshment and
comfort for feminine feet that are unable-to stand the
strain of the average day's exactions? Here it is in the
Arlington.
A snub-toe with ball-strap whose designing calls Jfpr a.
liberal use of perforations one of the smartest oxfords
or the season.
Its greatest virtue however the -sustained comfort it
affords to feet that are inclined to tire and ache--is whol-
ly concealed from the eye.
The first of these special comfort features is in the form
of a bridge right under the arch. It supports the weak-
ened arch-muscles for the life of the shoe.
Sturdy counters that grip the foot firmly and prevent
unsightly bulging is the second feature.
Come and try it on. An uncommon experience is in
store for you. . -i
