fSBW YORKj Octo. 7 October
An informal meeting of nfteen or
twenty business men of the city was
held at the office of W. Dl Guliey &
Co. Tuesday morning by invitation of
ttiat firm. After alii had assembled
the object of the meeting was stated
by Chas. Baughman as having for its
rim-nose the building of a pine line
from the Bailey Sinclair and Wil-
liamson wells to Brownwood. a'lr
Baughman said tlie plan was .practi
cal -and called for very. little outlay
of money inasmuch as the owners of
the three wells mentioned had agreed
to give a subsiantial bonus for such
a. pipe line connection. "The meeting
was decidedly informal every .man
present giving full and free expres
sion to his views cn tlie value of such
an enterprise to Brownwood business
interests. Jt was estimated that such
a line with a two inch main could
be built at a cost of less than twen
ty-five thousand dollars and that the
revenue derived fiom such line would
pay .a fair rale of -interest even though
the output of oil in that immediate
vicinity should not increase above the
sixty-eight barrels per day which lit
now produces.
After considerable discussion in
which all admitted the need of a pipe
lino connecting the lines with Brown-
wood and the benefits w;hich would
accrue to Brownwood were a line"
built a committee was appointed to
go into the matter more ' closely as
to details to ascertain the approx-
imate cost of such a line and to se
cure such other information as might
be needed in presenting the matter

12 Condemned Men
Show Irritation As
Time to Die Nears
CHICAGO. Oct 6. Lives of twelve
men scheduled to be snuffed out via
the hangman's noose on October 14
and 15; "have begun to become more
precious to them as the time set for
their execution draws ucar.
With the. date of their "death less
than two weeks away tlie inmates of
Murderer's Row in the Cook county
jail here have Bhowed the first signs
of the beginning of the dread to die.
Surliness irritation and pacing of the
cells by the twelve men convicted of
murder or of participation in slay-
ings hns caused Jailer George F. Lee
to issue instructions that the prison-
ers be watched c'.osely for fear some
of them might attempt a jail break or
try to slay themselves.
The twelve men Lee said Saturday
will be hanged in two lots. Six he
saidi will be. hanged October 14 and
the other six on the following day.
Two will be hanged at a time.
The condemned men with the ex-
ception of John Henry Heese a negro
are white and all were convicted of
murdering other men.
Two others condemned to die have
not had the. date of their execution
set. It is possible they may be. exe-
cuted at the same tinie if their; ap
peals are disposed ot by the State Su
preme Court in time.
