the eyes of every child should be'
examined. Many a so-called stu-

has some defect of the vision
which renders he or she unfit for
study. You would not refuse a

refuse your child glasses -if they

WILL BUILD OTHER ROADS
Fifty Thousand Club it Receiving Unpre
cedented Encouragement in
its Work.
The committee appointed by
the Fifty Thousand Club to
solicit funds from the business
interests of Brownwood to sup
plement the 1500.00 appropriated
by the Commissioners court last
Saturday for the purpose of
building a good road from Brown
wood to Rising Star began work
yesterday afternoon .and met
with the greatest-encouragement
from the progressive business
interests of the city. The com
mittee worKea sngntiy more
than an hour yesterday and se
cured $900 from one dozen busi
ness houses. They are at work
again-this afternoon and hope
to increase the amount to $2500.
Much of this money will be ex-
pended on the Rising Star road
but it is thought that enough can
be raised to help build other
roads and the county will be
asked to make appropriations for
other places. The Fifty Thous-
and Club is working energetically
at this project and the leaders of
the club feel that no more im
portant matter could haye been
undertaken. President Harrison
is highly pleased with the earnest
manner in which the committee
has assumed its duties in raising
the funds and is also much grat-
ified at the hearty response of
the business men of Brownwood
in donating to the good roads.
The merchants almost without
an excpption so far as they have
been "approached have given
liberally and stated that they
were glad to help improve the
roads leading into Brownwood
provided the county commis-
sioners would do their share of
the work.
The committee which has the
important work of raising the
fund to supplement the amount
by the county is as follows:
J. H. Giant Douglass King E.
E. Garnett R. N. Adams and
thefsecretary of the club.
The donations secured yester-
day afternoon were as follows:
Walker-Smith Grocery Co. $150
Austin Mill & Grain Co. 100
Peoples Compress Co. 100
Weakley-Clmgman Co. 100
Jackson-Hughes Co.. 100
