at the request of a capitalist who
wants to come here and locate a

considerable time to make thor-

meanwhile two other big brick

and we recently shipped 1000
pounds of it to their brick plants
to make tests of it.
The Chicago report will show
that the shale from the Brown-

Scott and Cora at Loggerheads Over a
Red and White Pided Steer and
Seeking Settlement in Court.
When friends and neighbors
fall out and begin to law each
other there is generally a state
of .unpleasantness precipitated
that is often quite far reaching
in its effectand it is unfortunate
for the parties concerned and
the neighborhood generally that
such conditions arise. Promi-
nent men often become involved
in such situations and as a rule
their prominence usually but
serves to add to the unpleasant-
ness of the situation.
Down on Bear creek there aire
two large ranches-among the
best now remaining in this sec-
tion of the country. One of
these ranches is owned by Win-
field Scott the well known Fort
Worth cattle man and capitalist
who is well known in Weather-
ford and the other is the prop-
erty of J. W. Corn a prominent
and wealthy citizen of Parker
county. The ranches of Messrs.
Scott and Corn are adjoining
and both of these gentlemen are
engaged in the same line of bus
iness. Each of them purchase
a large string of steers every
year and of tener and feeds and
finishes these steers for market
on their respective ranches.
This spring both Scott and
Corn had big bunches of fine
steers on feed and during the
past few weeks those steers have
been shipped out to market as
they were finished and the work
of finishing them was so well
done that they brought good
prices. But along toward the
closing of the shipping season
the previous harmony and good
will existing between Messrs.
Scott and Corn wags rudely dis-
sipated and the friendship of
years brought to naught.
Several weeks ago Mr. Corn
made a shipment of steers to
the consignment going
to St. Louis it is understood.
In some way Mr. Scott gained

In Justice Bratton's- court in
Fort Worth yesterday J. W.
Corn filed suit against Winfield
Scott seeking the possession of
one certain steer described in
the petition as being red and
white pide between three and
four years old.
The. petition racites and by
character gives the brand of the
animal showing altogether five
separate brands located on the
left jaw on the left side the
left thigh the left hip and the
left shoulder.
The petition further alleges
that the said steer which is of
the value of $60 is now in the
possession of the said defendant
Winfield Scott who unlawfully
and wrongfully withholds the
possession of said steer from the
said plantiff J. W. Corn.

has been entered on the regular

men of much wealth combatting
