WASHINGTON March 15. The
United States Government has evolved
a plan of meeting one phase of the
country's immigrant problem through
educational institutions and1 now
fourteen of them are offering special
courses which treat of the subject of
immigration though few of them have
given much attention to the practical
problem of what to do with the im-
migrant as a man and a citizen. Re-
cent occurrences in the United States
brought forcibly to the Government's
atention that the hyphen is about the
first thins that oucht in bp obliterat
ed. It is a growing conviction that!
so long as that exists so- long will
there be something closely approxi-i
mating a divided allegiance with the
new-made citizens therefore the so-
cial work among immigrants is as
suming special importance as a col-
lege subject "While fourteen institu-
tions are now offering special courses
which treat of the general subject

Men Diggers in Egypt UncoTer
King's Sarcophagus.
CAIRO March An Armenian
driller of artesian Avells had pur
chased a piece of land close to his
home. He was interested in the cul-
tivation of fruit and trees. The work
had not long been in hand when the
men engaged in digging struck a hard
substance with -a. pickaxe. Further
excavation revealed a huge stone
measuring three metres In length b
one metre wide.
Underneath the Stone the excava-
tors discovered an extensive room
bearing on its walls writing in th
form of birds and serpents. Thf
superintendent of the Egyptian Mu
seiim sent two expert representa-
tives who gave orders for digging t

ther discovery of a kirge sarcopha
