these things are simply proving our

BARGAIN
.Meeting.
la Monday's llulletln we note
wUeii of the Apostolic meeting There is nothing new in our creed
-which bears a snirlt of unfairness. ' or doctrines and are Apostolic because
' and' in Justice to us calls forth thisi;ese signs shall follow them that
article. Tho Bulletin used the lan-
guage "claiming they are being per-
secuted after tho fashion of Christ"
tc
Wo contend that this is the great
est revival ever held In Brownwood. ! the LamVs Book of Llfe and God
and th itnn.nrniioii Tf0rc ! adds them to the church. We are not

believe" and they are doing it just
as was done in the days of the Apos-
tles not by the Apostles only but as
the Book says by all who believe.
We have no organization but all who
are saved have their names written In
ed bears .approval of the Holy Ghost.
-This should not ordinarily irritate the
general public They have seenre-
vlvals before noisy ones too but this
. ' meeting in particular aroused the
most hitter opposition which finally
developed into real old fashioned
dyed-in-the-wool persecution and we
object to the inference that we mere-
ly "claim" to be persecuted after the
fashion of Christ There is no room
s for any question as to this and the
facts bear out the contention that we
are being subjected to an almost un-
paralleled series of persecutions.
Scores of people in Brownwood who
are in no way identified with the
movement speak of it and with a de-
sire to see simple Justice done liave
kindly tendered their indorsement and i
support
The meeting was ordered away from
the hall where it began In support
of the contention that It was tqo noisy
: and was a disturbance to a few per
sons it moved without protest A
place was selected where from every
reasonable standpoint the same ob-
: Jection could not prevail In the mid
die of a city block which had been us-
- ed foryears as a protracted meeting
place and some of the largest carnl-
. -vala in Texas had occupied the ground

: calling .forth he same objection "that
H is" too noisy." Brass hands Indian

of steam wbistles speelers galore
with megaphones and every other
conceivable system for producing
wierd. dismal screeching and blood-
curdling sounds were all passed by
and if any of their neighbors wen.
disturbed we fall to hear where a sin-
. gle tent was moved. When the "nec-
. essary needful coin of the realm" is
. wanted the comfort -of the public is
sacrificed but human souls may be
swept through the gates quietly or not
at all lest some one lose a little
sleep.
However the Bulletin may attempt
to regard the matter the persecution
is too apparent and the people are not
deceived. For the second time forci-
' 1)ly ejected the meeting then encoun-i
tered an unparalleled line gf opposl-
. tion. Most of their borrowed benches
were taken from them and as fast as
a new location was decided upon be-
fore it could be occupied it was refus-
- ed them upon the most flimsy pre-
texts of excuses. And to cap these
. series of events a lumber" yard which
had promised the loan of lumber to
make seats repealed the promise. Nor
are these trifling annoyances .all the
. symptoms which the diagnosticians
. -discovered before they rendered their
verdict and located the trouble class-:
- ed as persecution. Insults and threats
destruction of private property and
- -mobs have .had uninterrupted sway.
Our people have been villlfled and
. abused and threatened hnd 15aily
friends warn us that antiquated eggs.
stones and .dynamite will be brought
to bear if necessary to stop the meet
ing. And yet these people just "claim
taey- are H?nweuted. It is well
- enough for the church brethren to
yell persecution but It is a crime for
an .Apostolic to regard anything short
of murder in that light
As. Apostolics we will say that we
. are not whining but rather rejoicing
-hut because we do it does not neces-
sarily imply that we do not know what
the word persecution "means.
The statement that children are
"bunched and instructed to jabber in
-' other tongues is another fabrication
-as also is the statement that hypno-
; tlsm is practiced. All such falsehoods
are. not worthy of attention but they
add to the sum total and make. usT
aware that the devil is against us. All
sorts of ridiculous stories are afloat
that for some reason the people .swal-
low without investigation- It is true
that trances and various manlfesta-
tlons ;are'.jilghtly to be seen but we
tieny nine tenths of the rot retailed
about town anct"k.lndly ask all to .come
out and see for themselves. Ask us
for our Bible authority chapter verse
etc. and form your own conclusions.
The tent is not in North Brownwood
nor was it ever Intended to move It
there hut is on Center avenue near
the Walker-Smith wholesale house.
TVe do say emphatically that there
. are ino fake manifestations at this
meeting but that It is a fact that God
Is -showing his power In Brownwood
Apostolic because we profess In any
way to be any of the Apostles re-
turned to earth but because we as
did the Apostles earnestly contend- for
the faith once delivered to the Saints.
We are not law breakers nor anar
chists but believe that the hundreds
who have been trying to overrun this
meting are. We are not trying to
force our faith upon any one yet
scores gnash their teeth and say we
will have none of it as though wt
were using force. They forget that
the way-away from the tent is just as
unobstructed as the one leading to it
and their absence will hardly bo no-
ticed. It Is absolutely certain that
were the Apostolics to attend any re-
ligious gathering in Brown county-
ana "take things In" as the opposi-
tion does this one our fades would
peer through Jail bars very soon.JThe.
persecutions of this sort and the bit-
ter denunciation of the church people
are all classed alike and are a pari
of the statement in the Book that "ye
shall be persecuted."
This reply Is not written with any
feeling of malice or any desire to re-
taliate nor is this explanation intend-
ed to check these persecutions . or
compromise with the devil but sole-j
ly to show that persecutions are per-
secutlons and do not become anything
else because someone Infers that they
db. We have not appealed to the civil
authorities but "claim" that the times
are progressing when it becomes nec-
essary in America for a religious or-
der to 'solicit such aid to get
it . Carnal weapons are for ihe Car-

that right -here one may find a band

year the company was forced to re-
