THIS
BROWNWOOD LOOKS GOOD
To Him After Visiting a Number of
Towns Looking for a Home He Will
Not Leave the City Now;
Capt. H. W. McGhee closed a
deal Saturday for the W. St.
John Woolsley residence on Hand
street paying $6500 for it. The'
contract calls for possession of
the property by July l'Oth. When
Capt. McGhee sold his place in
Coggin Addition some weeks
ago he thought he would leave
the city but after a visit to a
number of towns includimr San
Angelo Abilene El Paso and'
others he has decided that there
is no other place quite so attract
ive as old Brownwood and has
decided to make this his perma-
nent home. He looked the town
over carefully and picked the
Wolseley place as the most desir-
able and best bargain.
The' deal was made through
the West Texas Land Company.

NOT Willi RESPONSIBLE
Or the Jury Would Have Imposed a
Heavier Sentence Verdict Almost
Equal to Life Sentence.

Saturday night the jury in the
j John T. Sharp murder case re
turned a verdict of guilty and
sentenced the defendant to" five
years in the pemtentiarv. It
took the jury about two hours
and a half to reach a decision
after the case was turned ' over
to them.
The Sharp murder . case is one
of the most noted in this part of
the state and the outcome of the
trial has been watched by many.
It may be that a new trial will
be asked for.

Work Suspended.
Work has been temporarily

on account of the high water.
The prop which was holding the
flood gate in position until it

The workmen will likely begin
tomorrow the task of cementing
the north bank of the stream
around that wing of the dam.
