EVANGELIST WILLIAMS
TALKSJDN"TWO WAYS"
Describes the Broad Way Hint Lends
to Hell Makes Com-
parlson.
The subject of Evangelist Sid Wil-
liams at the tent meeting last night
was the "Two Ways." Text: "Enter
Ye in at the straight gate for wide is
the gate and broad is the way that
"leadeth to destruction and many there
be which go in thereat becaase
straight is the gate and narrow is the
way which leadeth unto life and few
here'be that find it." Mat 7:13-14.
The Evangelist said in part: "We
are all travelers. Humanity is on a
journev. There is no rest here for
the soul. Many and various are the J
ways to eternity yet all may be reduced
to two the way to heaven and the way
to bell. To the one or to the other our
trains are headed. Jesus was a re-
markable preacher and one reason was
because he drew his illustrations from
objects surounding him in every-day
life. In this lesson he illustrates by
the wide and" narrow gates that enter
into Jerusalem. These two ways are
described by their characteristics and
terminus.' One is smooth and pleas-
ant for the natural man but its end
is destruction and damnation. The
other is rugged hard and disagreeable
but its end is life eternal. The first
gate is easy to enter It offers manv
inducements that will tempt the trav-
eler to pass through it into the broad
way. It is wide it just suits the de-
praved nature of man. It is easy to
go through and no trouble to travel
for many wait to assist you on the
way. The presence of the crowd will
help you to move on with a quicker
step towards the end. The force will
t be so great -when you near the end
and the way will be so steep that you
will not have strength enough to re-
sist the pressure and into hell you will
go. Your party will be greatly in the
majority. See the awful procession-
look at them. Great God. what a
crowd of sceptics infidels agnostics
whiskey drinkers libertines card play-
ers gamblers adulterers and sinner-"
of alL classes. They are steadily go-
ing dowa to tiie depths of hell. Thev
are a big crowd hot their end is death.
God says: Though th wicked Join
hand in hand they should not ?o w-
puaished." If on the other hand ou decide to
V travel the narrow way. let me say to.
you that you are jSnsc to find ditficiil-ties-attending
the entrance. It is a
straight gate. It is safd that a camel
to pass through this gate jmit first

sinner. Jou will have to let Christ
the sin-bearer take your load of sin
and you will have to get on your knees
in penitence and pray before you can
enter this way. You will have to take
off all of self by the force of God's
spirit before you will find an entrance.
You cannot depend upon your good
works.- There is but one entrance and
that is through Christ the gate-keeper.
You must be converted and be-
come as little children looking alone
to Christ for aid.
"Here we see life .and death set be-
fore us which way will you take."
At the close of the service there
were seven received into the church
making thirty since the meeting be-
After the service dismissed there
were a few Christians remained in a
short workers meeting and there
were two professions of faith.
The duet by Miss Stone Williams
and Prof. Morgan "When I Shall See
Him Face to Face." was especially im-
pressive There will be services tonight as us-
ual On Sunday there v. ill be three
services. At 11 o'clock in the after-
noon and again at night.

Brownwood is becoming general. A

orders than it could fill. He said there
is an increasing demand for brick
which the town cannot now supply.

TEST WATER PRESSURE
AND FIND IT SUFFICIENT
Nen Pump Station I Working Nicely.
A Test Was Made of the Pres.
sure Yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon the fire bell was
sounded to bring out the department
for the purpose of testing the water
pressure with the big pump working.
The department made a run to Adams
street on Center Avenue where they
made connection and in a jiffy they
had two streams playing which dis-
played enough pressure for any town.
From there they riiade a run to the
court house where two lines of hose
were laid and the water turned on.
The stream reached the court house
roof and' went high up on the dome.
The boys were delighted with the great
improvement and say they will do some
very effective work when next they
are called upon to fight fire.
The new pump station is equipped
with a gas producer plant a 100-horse
power Foos Gas Engine and a big
pump that will fill the stand-pipe any-
time In two hours. The pump is a
double unit pump which can fie used
for a large volume of water or a high
pressure at the will of the manipulat-
or.' When a high pressure is desired
the pump will not pump so much water
to the minute but it gives the pressure
wanted just the same. In every-day
use the pump will be reared for vol-
ume instead of pressure and pumping
will bo easy.
The now plant has been installed at
a cost of $10000 and when a few thou-
sand more are expended for the pro-
posed filtering plant the water proh-
lem will have been solved for Brownwood.
