HONOR AMERICA DAY—JOLT 4
I believe in the United States of America as a govern-
ment of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just
powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a
democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many
sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; es-
tablished upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice,
and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their
lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it;
to support its Constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its
flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

In consideration of the
working mothers on your
guest list, try not to give your
party on a Sunday—when
they might well prefer. . . be-
ing home with the kids.
*****
It's a good idea to send
out all your invitations at the
same time. Otherwise, a "late
receiver" might think he was
just an "afterthought."
The best way lo plan a
party is with pencil and
paper. No matter how good
your memory is he sure to
write down. . . what has to bo
done.

Hwy. 78 Wylie
chairman of the Collin
District Board of Direc-
tors, made the presen-
tation stating that "it was
the love of the land" that
encouraged Nelson and
his wife, Joyce, to re-
claim and improve their
lands. They have applied
conservation treatment to
three of their farms tot-
aling 347 acres.
Gullied slopes were
smoothed out and sodded
to Coastal bermudagrass.
Other areas of pasture-
land needing better and
more productive cover
were sodded and fertili-
zed. A balance of graz-
ing was provided by use
of cool season grasses
such as ryegrass and
fescue.
Marion and Joyce Nelson
live one mile west of Wes-
ton on one of the farms
they bought in 1965 when
he retired as a chaplain
in the U.S. Air Force.
"They have been con-
stantly improving their
lands since that time,"
commented Roy Post of
the Soil Conservation Ser-
vice Work Unit of Mc-
Kinney who has worked
most closely with land
users of this area.
The Nelsons started out
twenty years ago with 5
cows having 3/8 charolais
blood. Tliey have now
138 high blooded mother
cows, many of wnich are of
show quality. They have
brought in French cattle
and improved their breed-
ing stock to the point that
last year they nad four
bulls that were winners
at several shows. One
of these was grand champ-
ion. They have been in-
vited to snow five animals
at the Kansas City
"Charolais World of
Heifers" this year.
