Respiratory Therapy Program
On CCCC Docket
A new program in respira-
tory therapy will highlight the
health care offerings available
at Collin County Community
College this fall semester.
The program, which
features both a one-year
certification program in
certified respiratory therapy
technician (CRTT) and a
two-year associate degree
program in Registered
Respiratory Therapist (RRT),
will seek to help fill the
demand for respiratory care
professionals.
The RRT works in conjunc-
tion with doctors to establish
a care plan for patients with
respiratory tract disfunction.
The CRRT then is responsible
for seeing that the plan is car-
ried out.
"There is a shortage of
professionals in this area,
second in demand only to
nursing," said Sheryl Kappus,
dean of science and health at
CCCC. "As a result, hospitals
are making the profession
attractive to prospective
RRT's and CRTT's.

zation," Kappus said.
"Although there is a high
demand for respiratory
therapy professionals, the
occupation is still not familiar
to the general public. It's
almost an unknown area,"
said Kappus. "It pays just as
well as nursing - or better --
and the flexibility is better. It's
a completely different area of
expertise and more narrow in
focus."
Pizza Orders
Reflect
Intensity
At Pentagon
If you want an accurate update
on American troop movements,
don't call the Pentagon — just call
Domino's Pizza in Washington,
DC
That's because pizza orders re-
flect the intensity of activity at
the Defense Department and the
White House
According to Domino's Frank
Me^ks, Pentagon pizza orders
soared 25 percent right before
American troops invaded Pana
ma
Meeks says sometimes 250 piz
zas per night are delivered to the
Pentagon during intense troop
maneuvers
Senators obvioush like a slice
too
Meeks sav^ senators order more
pizza toppings than House repre-
sentatives
His unconfirmed theory is thai
senators tempt a few unwilling
votes with a tempting piece of la^
night pizza
Meeks s.ivs Ronald Reagan
more of a pr/.za president than
George Rush
Rush's administration seems to
consist mosih of cheapskates who
order fewer pizza toppings and
are much tighter on tips
