Inspection and
tag time here
You have 10 days to have your
automobiles and trucks inspected
and placing new licenses tags on
them. It is much cheaper in the
long run to have this done now
than wait until a highway patrol
officer reminds you.
According to the sheriff's de-
partment a great many tags are
yet to be sold and to avoid a
long wait, you should get this
done before April 30. The dead-
line *1111 not extend through
Monday.

With the exception of "Sum-
mer Place." all of the films in
both lists would be classified as
suitable for general patronage.
The students had a few choice
comments to make on sex in
films. It was presented in too
sleazy a way; too much sex, they
go to movies to follow a story;
sex and spectaclar scenes take the
place of plot.
Other criticisms: Too much vio-
lence; degrading to teenagers;
need actors more tlu n stars; too
much stimulation of emotions and
not enough family entertainment;
they put bad thoughts in the
minds of weak teenagers.
The survey showed that teen-
agers choose films by "hearsay"
of others or by advertising. Titles
were third and movie stars rank-
ed fourth. Pew said that parents
guided them in their selections.

More, more and more
Congress was told that the U.S.
is paying 40 percent of the cost
of a United Nations program "de-
signed to improve the teaching of
Communism in Cuban schools."
Representative Durward 6. Hall
of Missouri, said the program
calls for a UN grant of $135,000
to help Cuba prepare textbooks
and train tepohers. He said the
project was one of several UN
programs to assist Cuba, in addi-
tion to one disclosed recently
whereby 1.2 million will be spent
to aid Cuban agriculture.
Remember, this is money out
of your pocket, being used to
educate little Cuban children in
the ways of atheistic-Communism.
In otherwords, more of our own
money will probably be spent to
teach atheism to Cuban children
than we are now giving to mis-
sion work in foreign lands. Yet,
we still have those yelling. "Sup-
port the United Nations!"
Will the Lord forgive us! I
seriously doubt it!

Freedom for catastrophe
Edgar R. Hays, editor of The
I/ickney Beacon, tells us:
Colleen Taylor, Lockney's fore-
ten exchange student from Lunn-
snya, Northern Rhodesia, confirm-
ed a belief that we have held
for some time last Friday noon
when she spoke to the Lockney
Rotary Club. Miss Taylor's talk
dealt with Africa, its problems of
government and colonialization.
Mi?s Taylor stated that the Afri-
can nations are not capable of
governing themselves and that the
surge toward independence is
playing into the hands of the
Communists. She states that it is
common knowledge in Africa that
the Russians are pushing inde-
pendence for the African nations
because they know that as long
as they are colonies of some
other country they will have no
chance of taking them over. But
when they become independent,
find that self-government is too
much of a problem for them, then
there is a good chance of the
African nations falling into the
hands of the Communists. To us,
this is just another indication of
the gullibility of our State De-
partment because they are leading
the move for self-government for
these countries.
The tone of voice
It's not so much what you say
... As the manner in which you
say it; ... It's not so much the
language you use . . . As the tone
in which you convey it; ...
"Come here!" I sharply said, . . .
And the child cowered and wept.
. . . "Come here," I said— ... He
looked and smiled . . . And strai-
ght to my lap he crept. . . . Words
may be mild and fair , . . And
the tone may pierce like a dart;
. . . Words may be soft as the
summer air . . . But the tone may
break my heart; . . . For words
come from the mind .. . . Grow
by study and art— . . . But tone
leaps from the inner self . . .
Revealing the state of the heart.
. . . Whether you know it or not,
. . . Whether you mean or care,
. . . Gentleness, kindness, love
and hate, . . . Envy, anger, are
there. . . . Then, would you quar-
rels avoid . . . And peace and love
rejoice .? . . Keep anger not only
out of your words— . . . Keep-it
out of your voice.—Author un-
known.
